5 Potential opponents for Seth Rollins at WrestleMania

It was rumored late last year that Seth Rollins would be facing his Shield stablemate Dean Ambrose at WrestleMania 34 as the two former teammates looked to revisit their incredible feud from back in 2014. Sadly, Ambrose's bicep injury has put him on the shelf until the summer, which means that Jason Jordan has been drafted into his position.

In a cruel turn of events, it seems that now Jordan could be about to miss the biggest event of the year as well since he has only recently undergone neck surgery and the event is now in less than two months time.

WWE must have drafted up a list of options just in case Jordan is cleared in time, so let's look at some of the superstars the company could put in that position instead.

#5 The Miz

The Miz has already qualified for the Elimination Chamber, but with Roman Reigns in there, it's unlikely that he will be walking out as the Number One Contender for the Universal Championship in two weeks time. It seems that after February's pay-per-view Miz could be looking for a new feud, by then WWE may know whether or not Jordan will be cleared for WrestleMania and can then make plans with Seth Rollins.

Rollins is only the Intercontinental Championship short of becoming a Grand Slam Champion, he is the only Shield member who isn't a Grand Slam Champion, even though he was the first member of the group to become World Champion. If WWE is stuck for an opponent and a storyline, it seems that becoming Grand Slam Champion would be the perfect storyline for a feud between Rollins and Miz heading into WrestleMania, especially after their lengthy feud late last year.

#4 Cesaro

Could Cesaro be the one to step in Jordan's place?

We are still two months away from WrestleMania, it is unknown as to whether or not Cesaro and Sheamus will be able to hold on to their Tag Team Championships until the biggest event of the year, especially with Elimination Chamber looming.

If the duo drops the titles then Cesaro and Sheamus are still considered to have enough pulling power of their own as singles stars to be able to step into one-on-one matches at WrestleMania.

Rollins and Cesaro are traveling buddies and the best of friends, which could be why they have been able to put on so many great matches recently. If Jordan isn't cleared in time then Cesaro and Rollins could easily come up with a match in the future to continue the feud between them that is currently on-going. After all, that was Rollins' last chance that the Tag Team Championships, not his last chance at Cesaro.

#3 Jeff Hardy

When Jeff Hardy was injured back in September it was reported that he would be sidelined for four-six months. April would be seven months since Hardy's injury which could mean that he will be back in action in time to be part of the biggest event of the year, the event where he and his brother Matt returned to WWE last year.

Many wrestling fans have likened Rollins to a young Jeff Hardy when it comes to his in-ring style, but once again this is a match that the WWE Universe has been holding out for since Seth and Jeff are yet to cross paths. 'Woken' Matt Hardy is seemingly busy on a singles run right now so Jeff could be forced to work as a singles star when he finally makes his return to action and a fantasy match with Rollins at WrestleMania would be a huge boost for both men whose careers seem to be stalling right now.

#2 Finn Balor

First Dean Ambrose, then Jason Jordan and now Finn Balor, all three men have partnered The Architect in the past and now Balor has stepped in to be Seth Rollins' tag team partner at WWE live events. Until next week on Raw, it is unknown as to whether or not this will be a partnership that is used on WWE TV as well.

Finn Balor and Seth famously squared off back at SummerSlam 2016 to crown the first ever Universal Champion and if Finn doesn't qualify for Elimination Chamber this week on Raw then he will be in the same position as Rollins when it comes to a storyline heading into WrestleMania. Maybe Finn and Seth can stand on opposite sides of the ring once more and put on a show-stealing match at WrestleMania 34?

#1 AJ Styles

AJ Styles verus Seth Rollins is definitely a WrestleMania worthy match
AJ Styles vs Seth Rollins is definitely a WrestleMania worthy match

I know what you're thinking, AJ Styles has a match against Shinsuke Nakamura at WrestleMania already, well actually he doesn't. The WWE Champion has a match against Nakamura and since AJ defends his Championship in a fatal four-way match at Fastlane just weeks before the biggest event of the year, his place on the card isn't officially confirmed just yet.

The only fantasy match bigger than Nakamura up against AJ Styles is for the former TNA star to step in the ring with Seth Rollins. When Finn Balor didn't have an opponent last year at TLC it was Styles who was sent over to fill the void, so it wouldn't be too much of a pipedream to think that if he lost his Championship, he could do it again.

Right now AJ has an issue with Shane McMahon and Daniel Bryan, so why wouldn't he head over to Raw to get away from the authority figures on SmackDown Live? Of course, Jordan could still be cleared to compete and AJ could retain his title at Fastlane, but the thing about wrestling is that you never really know what's around the corner.
