John Cena and Randy Orton have fought many times before.

John Cena and Randy Orton are the post-Attitude Era's equivalent of Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Rock. Orton and Cena were cornerstones of WWE's PG Era. The two fierce on-screen rivals, and real-life friends, have gone to battle in the ring countless times. They have torn each apart limb from limb in Hell in a Cell matches, "I Quit" matches, Last Man Standing matches, TLC matches, and Iron Man matches too.

They last faced off on an episode of SmackDown in February 2017. John Cena transitioned into a part-time role after that while Orton continued to compete regularly. Due to John Cena's part-time status, Orton and Cena have seldom crossed paths since 2017. Even though it is not a fresh dream match that fans are dying to see, Randy Orton vs. John Cena has the potential to produce a classic, old-fashioned rivalry.

John Cena would love nothing more than to win the World Championship for a record-breaking 17 times. Randy Orton currently holds the WWE Championship. Taking the title off one of his greatest rivals in Orton could make John Cena's 17th WWE Championship victory more magical.
