There was a lot to celebrate about last night as Elimination Chamber delivered in a big way; from Finn getting his first taste of gold since his injury to Becky and Kofi continuing their improbable runs, to Sasha and Bayley etching their rightful place in wrestling history as the first Women’s Tag Team Champions.

With Fastlane remaining as the only PPV standing before WrestleMania, storylines and potential matches on the card have started to take place. Last night we saw a lot of action an interesting subplots that point to what we can expect to see at the ‘Showcase of Immortals’.

Below we will take a look at five potential WrestleMania matches following the events of the Elimination Chamber.

#5 Shane McMahon vs. The Miz for the Best in the World Trophy

Partners to rivals?

Team morale for The Best Tag Team in the World was sky high the last few weeks after winning the tag team championships in their first try. The two have been delivering promos that align with each other, and even dressing in close-enough attire.

This week we finally saw some cracks in the armor as they got beat by The Usos, even after Jimmy Uso was arrested earlier this week for allegedly trying to fight with police officers. If the Usos aren’t feeling the repercussions for their off-screen actions, then it’s clear that WWE creative needed Miz and Shane to break up immediately to set up their Mania program.

In the few matches that Miz and Shane had together, Miz would direct Shane to take many high flying and dangerous spots the last of which resulted in both Shane and Jimmy crashing through the announce table and out of action. It was with that jump, that Miz was left in a one-on-one scenario and got pinned to lose the tag team championships.

Creative can make either Shane or Miz turn heel on the other, but the storyline basis is going to be about these high flying acts and how Shane risks his body for Miz only for The Miz to let him down just as his father always said.

#4 AJ Styles vs. Randy Orton

AJ Styles and Randy Orton seem like an obvious call after the events that transpired this week. All Orton needs to do for a storyline these days is to launch a random attack on someone, or hit an RKO out of nowhere. With back-to-back eliminations of Styles by out of nowhere RKOs in less than a week, it’s safe to say that Styles has unfinished business with Orton.

This matchup is the classic heel vs. face matchup with two of the most prominent stars in the business that Vince loves for WrestleMania season.

#3 Becky Lynch vs. Ronda Rousey (C) vs. Charlotte Flair for The RAW Women's Championship

Whatever Vince and The Authority want to say about a suspension or injury angles the writers create, there is/was no way that Becky Lynch was getting outright replaced in this match. She is the hottest Superstar in the business, and the audience went nuts for her segment last night.

The bad blood between these three Superstars only intensified last night after Becky attacked both Charlotte and Ronda with her crutches. We can assume Ronda and Charlotte are not happy with what transpired and will rattle managements cage to get their hands on Becky Lynch.

We’ll have to see what WWE creative comes up within the weeks to come, but it’s evident that the “suspension” and “injury” aren’t fooling anyone.

#2 Baron Caron & Drew McIntyre & Bobby Lashley vs. The Wyatt Family

How will Braun Strowman respond after this humiliation?
How will Braun Strowman respond after this humiliation?

A 6-man tag team match is more of a gut call, but after the events that transpired again last night, this seems entirely plausible.

Braun Strowman was the most dominantly booked (outside Reigns and Lesnar) Superstar in all WWE for the better part of the last 18 months. Labeled the ‘Monster Among Men’ he was decimating everything in his path that didn’t involve the Universal Championship. Since the Crown Jewel PPV where Lesnar squashed Braun in a matter of minutes, everything changed.

While Braun was lying in the ring helpless, the WWE Universe was waiting patiently for backup to arrive and even out the numbers. Kurt Angle and Finn Balor come to mind as they had their history with each of the heels and teamed with Braun in recent weeks, but neither showed up. Instead, Lashley, McIntyre, and Corbin feasted on the carcass of the monster.

During the beatdown, Corey Graves repeatedly mentioned how Strowman has no friends backstage. While WWE announcers usually say random meaningless things, this caught our attention for a couple of reasons; Kurt Angle’s body must be too beat up for him to be of regular help, and Braun does have friends, but they weren’t “backstage”.

Enter the Wyatt Family. Bray Wyatt and Luke Harper have been missing from WWE TV for months due to various reasons. With both healthy and ready to compete, what better way to reintroduce themselves to the WWE Universe than by coming to the aid of their family member.

Maybe that one-off Starrcade appearance by Bray Wyatt to battle Baron Corbin wasn’t so random after all.

#1 Daniel Bryan (C) vs. Kofi Kingston for the WWE Championship

Kofi proved he belonged in the WWE Championship scene this week.
Kofi proved he belonged in the WWE Championship scene this week.

This past week Kofi Kingston put on a fantastic showing in the Elimination Chamber match following an impressive hour-long performance in the gauntlet match. A week ago Kofi was aligned with the currently directionless New Day, and now he’s captured the hearts of WWE fans worldwide. After eleven long years, Kofi took the opportunity gifted to him after the unfortunate injury to Mustafi Ali and soared to new heights.

Kofi is arguably the most deserving Superstar on the roster of this opportunity, and the WWE Universe let it be known all week. What started as a replacement spot for an injured Superstar, has turned into an overnight sensation.

If the McMahon family are true to their word that they are going to listen to the WWE Universe, then this is the moment to prove it. The people have spoken.

Kofi Kingston electrified the building last night, bringing fans on their feet, breaking the status quo and bringing hope and excitement back to the product. WWE has failed to capitalize on Superstars' popularity and momentum in the past; they cannot afford to make the same mistake again.

As unlikely as it was last week, there’s no denying that Kofi Kingston should be the new #1 contender to Daniel Bryan’s throne. Kofi is a Superstar that has given everything to this company for over a decade, and the fans showed their appreciation in full last night. Rewarding him with a WWE Championship match at WrestleMania is best for business.
