Predicting 5 ways in which Braun Strowman could lose the Greatest Royal Rumble match

Braun Strowman will compete in the 50-man Greatest Royal Rumble

Braun Strowman has become one of WWE’s most popular Superstars over the last year and he will be among the favourites to win the 50-man Greatest Royal Rumble in Saudi Arabia on Friday.

“The Monster Among Men” has destroyed almost everybody in his path on Monday Night Raw in recent months, from The Big Show and The Miz to Sheamus and Cesaro, and a Rumble match victory would represent the biggest accomplishment of his career so far.

However, it’s worth noting that Strowman was eliminated in his only two previous Rumble matches – by Brock Lesnar in 2016 and by Baron Corbin in 2017 – so there’s a good chance that he fails to outlast the competition again in the upcoming match.

With that in mind, let’s take a look at five ways that the former Wyatt Family member could be eliminated from the Greatest Royal Rumble.

#5 Eliminated by Baron Corbin

Baron Corbin moved to Raw in the Superstar Shake-Up

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter claimed recently that Vince McMahon sees Baron Corbin as a “major player” for WWE in the future and he could be in line for a big singles push soon.

“The Lone Wolf” has been away from the main-event spotlight for the last couple of months but his move to Raw in the Superstar Shake-Up gives him several new babyfaces to go toe-to-toe with on Monday nights, including the likes of Roman Reigns and Braun Strowman.

It was a surprise move by WWE’s decision-makers to have Corbin eliminate Strowman from the 2017 Royal Rumble, especially considering nothing came of it because they were on separate brands at the time.

With both men now on Raw, at least it could kick-start a storyline if the former United States champion eliminates the 385-pounder on Friday.

#4 Eliminated by Big Cass

Big Cass will be one of SmackDown Live's biggest heels

Big Cass returned from an eight-month ACL injury on last week’s episode of SmackDown Live, and he made an immediate statement by attacking man-of-the-moment Daniel Bryan in the main event.

There’s a high chance that Cass targets D-Bry, one of the favourites to win the Greatest Royal Rumble, on Friday and that he picks up several eliminations in his first major match back since his injury.

However, if WWE really wants the former “Realest Guy In The Room” to solidify his status as one of the best big men on the main roster, then the most impressive feat he could achieve, besides winning the match, would be the elimination of Braun Strowman.

#3 He eliminates himself

Andre The Giant eliminated himself from the 1989 Royal Rumble

For reasons that range from the understandable to the utterly absurd, a total of nine people have eliminated themselves from Royal Rumble matches throughout the years.

The rare elimination method is sometimes used when an entrant is one of the biggest stars in the match, such as Andre The Giant in 1989 or Kane in 1999, and it would do more harm than good for their character if they were to be eliminated by a fellow Superstar.

If Braun Strowman becomes the 10th man to be eliminated by himself, the most likely way for it to happen would be if he attempts to connect with a clothesline against someone on the ropes and accidentally sends himself flying onto the outside of the ring.

#2 Eliminated by Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens

Braun Strowman is 6ft 8in and he weighs 385lbs, so it’s going to take a lot to eliminate him from the Greatest Royal Rumble – as Brock Lesnar and Baron Corbin found when they had to summon the strength to eliminate him from previous Royal Rumbles.

Rather than a standard one-on-one elimination, perhaps it could take more than one person to knock “The Monster Among Men” over the top rope in Saudi Arabia.

If WWE decides to go down that route, Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens are the most likely duo to join forces against Strowman if they look to avenge the embarrassing loss they received against the former Wyatt Family member and Bobby Lashley on this week's episode of Raw.

#1 Eliminated by Chris Jericho

Chris Jericho wants to work with Braun Strowman

Chris Jericho mentioned on his Talk Is Jericho podcast earlier in 2018 how he chose to wrestle in NJPW because, unless he were to take on Brock Lesnar or Braun Strowman, he knew he would be paired with Superstars he had already faced before if he returned to WWE.

Well, now that Y2J is going to be back in a WWE ring, if only for an initial one-off appearance, perhaps the seeds could be planted for a future storyline with Strowman if he eliminates the former Raw Tag Team champion from the Greatest Royal Rumble.

The two previously met in a six-man tag match at Night of Champions 2015, when the Wyatt Family defeated Jericho, Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose, but they’re yet to face each other in a televised singles match.
