What's the story?

During the most recent edition of his Talk is Jericho podcast, Chris Jericho claimed that there were certain aspects of working for NJPW that has made it more exciting than WWE.

Jericho lost to Kenny Omega in a very well received match at Wrestle Kingdom 12 during last Thursday. He now appears to be feuding with Tetsuya Naito.

In case you didn't know...

Most people, not just fans, expected Jericho to only be working the one match with NJPW and then potentially return to WWE following his upcoming Fozzy tour. However, that doesn't appear to be the case. He seems to be very excited to participate in more bigger angles and matches with NJPW.

The heart of the matter

Jericho explained why he feels NJPW can be more exciting than WWE. He said, "At this point in my career, I am only going to do the things that interest me the most, such as the idea of the Alpha vs. Omega match. I could have went back to WWE for another Wrestlemania, but I know I wouldn’t be part of the main event and would get pushed to the middle of the card."

"If I'm not working with guys like Braun Strowman or Brock Lesnar, I would be working someone I've worked with a thousand times before. I rather wrestle someone new, like Kenny Omega at the top of Wrestle Kingdom. Its the most exciting thing I can think of at the moment."

What's next?

At New Year Dash 2018, Jericho attacked Tetsuya Naito. We don't know when but Jericho versus Naito is pretty much a certainty. It is currently being speculated that we may see that match take place in February, as Jericho will be touring throughout March and mid April with Fozzy.

Author's take

Jericho is spot on about NJPW. Even though one wouId prefer WWE, at this point in his career, wrestling for NJPW is the right move for him. We can only see Jericho vs AJ Styles, Kevin Owens and the rest of the WWE roster so many times before it isn't is entertaining as the first watch.
