Throughout the course of his career, Cedric Alexander has put his body on the line for the WWE Universe and it hasn't gotten him anywhere. Considering the fact that he's been part of WWE for around four years and has only ever held one Championship, it's clear that Alexander wanted a change.
The former Cruiserweight Champion's moveset will definitely be affected by a heel turn, and it could mean that he will no longer have to put his body on the line and perform high-flying moves.

When Seth Rollins turned heel, it allowed him to change up his moveset and let his body take a rest, since heels are not supposed to do moves that are seen as flashy.
After years of pushing his body to its limit and seeing little reward, it's easy to see why Cedric Alexander would want to do anything in his power to make a change. This could be the career boost that Alexander has been looking for, and he possibly decided that if he didn't accept MVP's offer soon then it might expire.
