5 reasons why Jason Jordan won the RAW Tag Team Titles with Seth Rollins

This moment
This moment was unexpected, wasn't it?

Jason Jordan and Seth Rollins walked out of the Christmas Day episode of Raw as the new Raw Tag Team Champions and it was quite a moment indeed. Jordan pulled off the pinfall after hitting Cesaro with his elevated neckbreaker, thanks to a distraction on the outside provided by Rollins.

It looks like WWE is going to keep moving full steam ahead without Dean Ambrose since he's out of action for up to nine months due to a triceps injury. But the choice to put the Red Brand's tag titles on Jason Jordan and Seth Rollins is still quite an interesting one.

So let's explore five reasons why it could have went down the way it did in Chicago.

#5 Furthers Kurt Angle storyline

Liek f
Like father, like son

Nobody needs to forget who Jason Jordan's father is through all of this. When Kurt Angle walked to the ring after the Christmas Day Raw main event, the first words Jordan said when he got out of the ring was "I love you, dad."

Nepotism runs thick and although it looked like WWE was going one direction with this story apparently they're going right back to the well to dig up more sentimental moments for Angle and his baby boy.

#4 They needed to establish Jason Jordan

WWE
WWE wants you to cheer for this man

Dean Ambrose is currently out of action and may not be seen on WWE television for a long time. Therefore, WWE needed someone else they can put in Ambrose's lunatic role. While Jason Jordan isn't as unhinged as Ambrose, he seemed to do the trick.

But WWE needed to establish Jordan in this match which is why he was the one scoring the pinfall on Cesaro after hitting his elevated neckbreaker. Although Dave Meltzer said on Wrestling Observer Radio that he would have placed Finn Balor in this spot instead, WWE might have plans for Balor they don't want to upset. Therefore, Jason Jordan seemed to fit the role.

But they needed to make Jordan look like he fit in during this match and WWE did everything they could to make sure this moment was met with a babyface reaction.

#3 They needed to change course

Are
Are you cheering Jason Jordan yet?

WWE was throwing small hints out there that Jason Jordan's time as a babyface might have been running out in the last couple of weeks on Raw. This is why his whiney attitude seemed to be featured in a more predominant role.

Some people were wondering when Jason Jordan might turn on his father's "3 I's" and go totally rogue in the heel direction.

But with Dean Ambrose out of action, WWE needed someone to fill his spot as a top babyface. So they did an about-face on Jason Jordan's heel turn and moved him right alongside Seth Rollins. Giving this pair the Raw Tag Team Championships is also a wise move because it gives Jason Jordan's new push even more of a reason to take place.

#4 WWE wants to get him over

Please cheer this man...i
Please cheer this man...it would mean a lot to WWE

WWE really wants to get Jason Jordan over. It confused some people backstage when the initial Kurt Angle reveals that Jordan was his long-lost son didn't get a great reaction. But people weren't buying it, even in the ironic sense. Therefore showcasing Jason Jordan's actual wrestling ability seemed like a good strategy.

With Jason Jordan picking up the Raw Tag Team Titles with Seth Rollins, it would be hard for the crowd to really boo that because Rollins is so popular. Therefore, WWE is probably hoping being associated with The Architect will bring more fans over to cheer for Jason Jordan as well.

#5 Jason Jordan has a record to boast about

If you don't cheer for him, Jason Jordan can always cheer for himself.
If you don't cheer for him, Jason Jordan can always cheer for himself.

Jason Jordan is half of the Raw Tag Team Champions but this is a position he's been in before, only it wasn't on Raw. Jason Jordan's impressive career started all the way back in NXT where he actually spent some time with people who were called up to the main roster way before him.

He picked up the NXT Tag Team Titles and SmackDown Tag Team Titles alongside Chad Gable as a member of American Alpha. Now since he holds the Raw Tag Team Titles with Seth Rollins that makes Jordan the first person to hold all three current tag team titles in WWE.

Considering Jason Jordan's seemingly babyface trajectory, he might not get too prideful of this accomplishment. But he's always got something in the chamber to boast about down the line.
