With WWE Royal Rumble coming up, fans have already started to speculate as to who may come out on top. For the women's Royal Rumble, the presumed favourite is Asuka. However, for the men's Royal Rumble, it is still very much up in the air.

Many assume a Smackdown star may come out on top, seeing as how Elimination Chamber will be a Raw-exclusive pay-per-view.

Here are five reasons why John Cena should win the Men's Royal Rumble.

#5 There's no obvious choice

Face it, there is just not an obvious choice this year. Fans online are clamouring for Shinsuke Nakamura to win the Rumble and challenge AJ Styles at Wrestlemania. However, there have not been any signs of that happening, and very rarely do we see two faces going one-on-one for a major title, on a major show.

On the Raw side, Roman Reigns is a favourite, but it would be surprising (even by WWE standards) if we saw a repeat of Philadelphia, 2015.

#4 The fans would pop for Cena

Speaking of Roman Reigns, much like Randy Orton last year, John Cena could actually get a huge (positive) reaction if he were to win and eliminate Roman Reigns.

Even though a lot of fans have become more fond of Cena over these last few years, the duelling chants and chorus singing will still follow Cena through his retirement. But if the Rumble were to come down to Cena and Reigns, Cena would indeed get a big pop for eliminating The Big Dog.

#3 Cena could pursue either world title

Back in the mid-2000's, the Royal Rumble winner could go for any world title. Heck, The Undertaker even appeared on ECW to pretend like he had a snowball's chance in going after that title. Last year after Randy Orton won, there was no discussion, as it was assumed he was only eligible for his brand's World Title.

However, because John Cena is a "free agent", he could, in theory, go after either world title that he wishes. WWE would still be abiding by the rules of the brand split, and this would make for compelling television.

#2 We get John Cena vs AJ Styles or John Cena vs Brock Lesnar

Cena has fought both of these Superstars before, but who wouldn't want to see either match again? Cena vs Styles writes itself, as Styles was on the wrong side of history for Cena's #16 win, and he wouldn't want to be on the wrong side of #17.

But Styles has beaten Cena multiple times, so that would factor into the hype.

On the flip side, Cena beat Lesnar in 2012, which was Lesnar's return match. At Summerslam, Lesnar dominated Cena to make it even. Their next match was a no contest, so there is unfinished business.

Lesnar vs Cena would be that marquee match to draw in casual fans.

Cena is one title away from making history

Cena going for his 17th title would obviously be a huge deal, and there are a lot of possible stories and angles here. If he wins, it would be one of the most historic moments (in terms of kayfabe achievements) in wrestling history.

If he were to lose, it would be a shocking moment, as everyone wouldn't expect it.

Also, if he were to challenge for the Universal Title, it would legitimise the Universal Title that much more, since it would be considered important enough to get Cena to #17.
