5 reasons why Seth Rollins should win Brock Lesnar’s Universal Championship at WrestleMania 35

The Royal Rumble concluded with Seth Rollins outlasting 28 other men and one woman to win arguably the most entertaining event in the WWE. With this, the Architect now has a ticket to WrestleMania as Rollins now has a chance to challenge for the WWE Universal Title or the WWE Championship.

Rollins was asked about whether he is contemplating challenging Lesnar for the Universal title and he didn’t rule out the option. In fact, he claimed that Finn Balor’s performance against the Beast Incarnate gave him hope that men with a rather small stature can beat the former UFC Heavyweight champion.

Safe to say, there is a good chance that Rollins feuds with Lesnar in the upcoming weeks. With that in mind, here are five reasons why he should opt to challenge Lesnar and Lesnar only and win the Universal title at WrestleMania…

#5 Poetic

The Universal title was relinquished by Roman Reigns as the wrestler from the legendary Anoa’i family had to battle with leukaemia. In an emotional episode of RAW on October 22, 2018, Reigns announced that his leukaemia had returned and that he had to leave the promotion for the time being and work on putting the dangerous disease back into remission.

Before he left the stage, an emotional Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose came together to form a group hug with the outgoing Reigns. Later that night, Dean Ambrose turned heel by attacking Rollins and broke up the Shield.

The title was with a Shield member before it went to Lesnar and it would be poetic for another Shield member to win it – even if the faction doesn’t exist anymore. It would not only be poetic but a great tribute to Roman Reigns, who considers Rollins his brother.

#4 Correcting the mistake from last WrestleMania

WrestleMania 34 had Brock Lesnar pitted against Reigns for the WWE Universal Championship. Initially, Reigns was supposed to win the affair and become the undisputed champion.

However, the script was flipped in the end and Lesnar successfully defended his title. Earlier today, footage came out which showed a furious Lesnar throwing the championship belt at WWE chairman Vince McMohan, who retorted by saying “a**hole”.

The outcome of that match annoyed a lot of fans as it was the perfect event to consolidate Reigns’ image as the Top Dog. Regardless of the heat that Reigns faced as a wrestler, he was at least a full-time entertainer for the company.

So, making a part-timer win the Universal title at the biggest WWE PPV of the year was something that couldn’t be labelled as a well-thought-out plan. As a result, this is WWE’s opportunity to correct the mistake that they made last year.

#3 Belt with a part-timer doesn’t look good

The Beast Incarnate
The Beast Incarnate

Let us address the elephant in the room. Brock Lesnar is THE Beast. There are only a very few figures in the wrestling world as intimidating as Lesnar. There is no doubt about all of this.

However, the only problem with Lesnar is that he is not full-time. Ever since winning the Universal title at Crown Jewel in November, he didn’t defend the championship even once until the Royal Rumble match against Finn Balor.

In comparison, after the Crown Jewel, the WWE Championship changed hands on Smackdown as AJ Styles lost it to Daniel Bryan. Then later at the TLC – where Lesnar was not even present – Bryan had to defend his title.

With Rollins as champion, WWE will have a wrestler that is present every week and there can actually be championship matches without the need of a PPV.

#2 Putting Rollins on the pinnacle

He should be the face of the company
He should be the face of the company

Having a full-time member as the champion is the ideal way to go about it. However, that doesn’t mean that it could be awarded to anyone. While the WWE Championship owned by Daniel Bryan might be the most important title in the company, Rollins winning the Universal title would give it a lot of weight.

It would also allow WWE to push Rollins as the face of the company. For the last few years, the company had been trying to make Roman Reigns the face of the production.

However, with him out of the picture now, someone else has to take the mantle and there is perhaps no better wrestler in the roster than Rollins to do it.

At 32, he is young and the peak of his powers. He is amazing inside the ring – perhaps among the top three in the company now – and he can cut promos much better than most of the wrestlers backstage.

He ticks all the boxes to be the face of the company and winning the title off a beast like Brock Lesnar will only elevate his status to the pinnacle.

Redesign, reclaim, rebuild
Redesign, reclaim, rebuild

Redesign. Reclaim. Rebuild. These are the ideals that form the pillars of Rollins’ Architect gimmick. Back in December 2018, the McMahon family came out on RAW and promised to bring changes to the company.

Since then, WWE have been experimenting a bit here and there, showing that they might just keep their word. At the very least, they are at least trying. The show is no longer strictly PG like it has been for most of this decade.

So it is safe to claim that the company is looking to redesign the plan, rebuild upon it and reclaim the stranded aficionados – and who better to lead this change than the person whose entire gimmick is based on the ultimate truth of nature: change?

Let the Architect help in redesigning, rebuilding and reclaiming – and a good start to that would be making him the WWE Universal Champion.
