5 Reasons why The Bar was broken up on WWE RAW

On the WWE RAW after the Superstar Shakeup, WWE made a few more changes to the roster as more Superstars switched between RAW and SmackDown.

We saw yet another switch this week as Cesaro moved over to RAW from SmackDown Live, minus his tag team partner, Sheamus. Although WWE haven't confirmed if the tag team have split, Cesaro was on RAW without Sheamus, which is an indication that The Bar are officially done.

Why have one of the most popular tag teams in recent WWE history split? Here are 5 reasons why The Bar were broken up on WWE RAW:

#5 Too many tag teams on both RAW and SmackDown

The Superstar Shakeup has resulted in several tag teams being broken up. We saw SAnitY breaking up when Eric Young was moved to RAW, while the Riott Squad also broke up when Liv Morgan was shifted to the blue brand.

The WWE tag team division on both SmackDown and RAW has been rather dull over the past few months, especially RAW, which had far few good tag teams, while tag team wrestling had taken a back seat.

While things haven't changed significantly yet, the addition of a few tag teams to RAW, The Usos and The Viking Raiders (who debuted as The Viking Experience, and were known as the War Raiders before that) have bolstered the division.

SmackDown, over the last two years, has had fantastic tag team wrestling with The Usos, The Bar and The New Day taking tag team wrestling to new highs.

The Bar splitting up was inevitable as there are far too many tag teams while very little time for tag team wrestling on both shows. Both Sheamus and Cesaro could have better opportunities as singles Superstars than in tag team wrestling, currently.

#4 They were getting stale as a tag team

The Bar came together when former WWE RAW GM Mick Foley rewarded them with a shot at the RAW Tag Team title after their 3-3 tie in the seven-match series. They've come a long way since then, becoming five-time tag team champions (4 RAW Tag Team titles and 1 SmackDown Tag Team title), and putting on great matches, consistently.

But, The Bar, who have been heels throughout their run as a tag team, were getting a little stale as a tag team. While it would be harsh to blame them for becoming a little boring on SmackDown Live as WWE have neglected the tag team division, something had to be done to revive both Superstars' careers.

Both Sheamus and Cesaro are immensely talented in the ring and they still have a lot to offer as singles Superstars!

#3 To have another heel who could challenge Seth Rollins

Universal champion Seth Rollins has a host of potential Superstars he could face on WWE RAW, with several top heels on the red brand.

Rollins is most likely to feud with Baron Corbin, but there are other heel Superstars like Drew McIntyre, Bobby Lashley, Samoa Joe, and now Cesaro, with whom he could feud with.

Many fans will be surprised to know that Cesaro and Seth Rollins have faced off before their WWE careers in the indie scene, while wrestling in ROH. The two even had a brief feud on RAW a couple of years ago.

Both Rollins and Cesaro are superb wrestlers and the two could put on a masterclass in the ring. The Bar was probably one of the best heel tag teams in recent years, and Cesaro could perhaps continue his heelish ways as a singles Superstar.

#2 To help Sheamus recover from his injuries

It's a well-documented fact that Sheamus has been suffering from a few injuries and he hasn't been able to perform at his optimum over the last few years. Sheamus has spinal stenosis, as per various reports, which has stopped him from wrestling at full tilt.

This could be the perfect time for the Irish Superstar to step away from the ring, rest and recover from his injury. Sheamus has been a constant fixture in the WWE for a decade, which has seen him become a four-time WWE Champion as well as five-time tag team champion.

He deserves a break after his gruelling run in the WWE, and at the age of 41, we could slowly see him transition into a bit-part Superstar in the WWE.

Sheamus is currently out of action due to a concussion that he suffered recently on WWE television.

#1 To give Cesaro a KofiMania-like moment

Cesaro has achieved quite a lot in the WWE, winning the inaugural André the Giant Memorial Trophy in 2014, winning the United States title once, while also winning 6 tag team titles (5 RAW Tag Team Championships and 1 SmackDown Tag Team Championships).

A talented Superstar like the Swiss Cyborg has to have a few more singles titles under his belt, and it's surprising that he's not had a World title run.

Vince McMahon thought that Cesaro lacked something when he made these comments in 2014: “He doesn’t quite have the charisma, he doesn’t have quite the verbal skills. Maybe it’s because he’s Swiss, I don’t know in terms of European style. At the moment, he lacks it.”

But if the WWE Chairman's opinion of the Swiss Superstar has changed, could he have a Kofi Kingston like moment, challenging Seth Rollins' Universal title? That would be a mouthwatering clash, one that many would feel is a well-deserved one for Cesaro.
