Samoa Joe has been exceptional in his new role as one of the announcers on RAW.

Dave Meltzer had stated back in November 2019 that the backstage reaction to Samoa Joe's commentary work has been positive and everyone recognized how good he was in the role.
"A bright spot on the show was the work of Samoa Joe in the Dio Maddin spot as an announcer. He was fresh, quick, and got everything over with a no-nonsense delivery. Joe was so good in the role that you have to at least consider making it permanent."Joe is a regular wrestler and will be back in action when his broken thumb heals. We were told that everyone recognized how good Joe is."
Even Vince McMahon feels that having Samoa Joe in the commentary booth seems right and Joe confirmed it during a recent episode of WWE's The Bump.
Joe realized that being an announcer could be a good fit for him. He revealed that even Vince McMahon thought it was perfect.
I've had zero media aspirations. I just drift through life, and things just hit me as they come. I got on the commentary table - it was funny when the light shined on me, I started to hear the angels sing, I said to myself, 'You know, this might be a good fit.' I then put my headset on, and Vince [McMahon] came through and said, 'You know, this feels right.' I was like, 'I know!'
"It's been a weird journey, but I'm still on it. It's an odyssey and a quest. I'm just trying to take the world along with me. I have a very descriptive mind, you know, when I see things, my observations are quick to come right out of my mouth. So yeah, it's been working out very well."
Samoa Joe will return to the ring as soon as he is cleared, but he is also expected to continue as the announcer on RAW, reportedly replacing Jerry Lawer on a full-time basis.
