5 rumoured WrestleMania 33 feuds that aren't happening anymore

WrestleMania 33 already looks stacked

Rumours can either be seen as a blessing or a curse depending on what kind of professional wrestling fan you are.

If you're an optimist, then you may look upon some of the supposed match ups for events like WrestleMania and be happy, meanwhile, a pessimist will automatically decide that they're not going to fork out the required money to watch it purely based on the aforementioned rumours.

That, of course, tends to be a mistake as more often than not the bouts in question aren't even remotely predicted accurately. Sure, it's fun to log online every day and try to work out what's going to happen, but doesn't that take away from the surprise of it a little?

Plus, you're only setting yourself up to be disappointed in one way or the other.

Take the five matches on this list for example. One or two have actually happened already, but many are confused as to why the rematches aren't taking place at WrestleMania.

WWE can't be held responsible for these things because even if this day and age within the world of professional wrestling, not everything is as predictable as it seems.

With that in mind, here are five rumoured WrestleMania 33 feuds that aren't happening anymore.

#1 John Cena vs. The Undertaker

Cena vs Taker has to happen at some point – surely?

John Cena vs The Undertaker. It almost makes us sound like a broken record to bring it up once again, but it needs repeating - how is this not happening at WrestleMania 33?

Now obviously this makes us seem like complete hypocrites, but all things considered, it seems bizarre to think that we won't be seeing the two icons face off on the grandest stage of them all.

It seems as if it'll instead be saved for WrestleMania 34 in New Orleans, but that doesn't prevent those attending the Orlando show from being a little bit gutted about not seeing it.

There's no doubt in anyone's mind that it'll be the main event of the show whenever it takes place, but let's face it - the clock is ticking on the career of the Deadman and we all know it.

Now onto two of Taker's past Mania opponents.

#2 Brock Lesnar vs. Shane McMahon

Shane vs Brock would be... interesting

When Brock Lesnar struck Randy Orton with a series of elbows that bust him wide open during the main event of SummerSlam, everyone was in shock.

Half were concerned for Randy Orton meanwhile the other half were utterly baffled as to just how Brock was going to be stopped. Unfortunately, that shock was replaced with disgust when Shane McMahon came to the ring and received an F5 from the Beast Incarnate.

It seemed that, then and there, they were setting up for Brock vs Shane at Mania which, in all honesty, would've been the most one-sided affair in the history of professional wrestling.

Thankfully it seems that smarter heads prevailed and instead, Goldberg and AJ Styles will be the chosen opponents of both men at the Citrus Bowl.

Over to the women for this next selection.

#3 Charlotte vs. Bayley

When will these two once again square off one on one?

Yes, we know - Charlotte & Bayley will indeed be in the same match at WrestleMania 33 alongside Sasha Banks in a triple threat bout for the Raw Women's Championship.

However, for months now it seemed as if they were building towards a one on one match between the greatest female champion in recent times and the ultimate huggable underdog.

Right now, the champion Bayley is looking a bit like an after-thought as the WWE are focusing once again on the age-old rivalry between Sasha Banks and Charlotte.

That's not necessarily a bad thing for some people, but Bayley walking into Mania with the title should be a big deal no matter who comes away with the belt by the end of the night. Right?

Back over to the guys for one of the hardest-hitting rivalries of recent times.

#4 Roman Reigns vs. Braun Strowman

Reigns going over clean didn’t sit well with the fans

Roman Reigns vs Braun Strowman at Fastlane was an absolute war.

The two men engaged in one of the best brawls of the last few years and despite the finish, it was considered by many to be the match of the night. However, Reigns vs Braun was originally pencilled in for a match at WrestleMania 33 with the Universal Championship set to be on the line.

A number of things changed over the last few months and whilst we can't be sure of Vince McMahon's mindset, he was probably worried that Reigns would receive a horrendous ovation at the biggest event of the year for the third consecutive time.

We can't say that we blame him for changing things up, but it does highlight how important Roman's eventual heel turn is going to be.

We conclude with a classic case of America vs Europe.

#5 Kurt Angle vs. Rusev

This match needs to happen

When Kurt Angle was announced as being the headline act for the 2017 WWE Hall of Fame, the internet exploded.

Thousands upon thousands of fans were eagerly anticipating an in-ring return for the Olympic Hero at WrestleMania, with the most obvious opponent for the returning legend being none other than the Bulgarian Brute Rusev.

It's a match that makes a lot of sense, however, at this point, not only is Rusev injured, but Angle's only involvement at Mania is slated to be the induction ceremony followed by a quick pose in front of the live crowd in Orlando.

Will he still be utilised on either Raw or SmackDown Live? Potentially, but this does feel like a big opportunity missed with all things considered. Oh it's true, it's damn true.
