5 signs that Becky Lynch's contract being up is a work

What is WWE trying to pull here?
What is WWE trying to pull here?

Becky Lynch and WWE have let it be known that The Man's contract is set to expire soon, which has left fans to wonder if it's true or not. If it is, how could WWE let arguably their biggest entity slip right out of their hands? If it is not real, however, what could the company have planned going forward in regard to Lynch?

With that being said and the details of Becky Lynch's contract status still unknown, here are five signs that this is all a work! As always, let us know your thoughts in the comments below and be sure to tell us where you think WWE is going to go next with this storyline.

#5. No real reason to leave

What real reason does Becky Lynch have for leaving WWE?

What reason does Becky Lynch have to leave WWE?

No, seriously, between winning the 2019 Royal Rumble, main eventing WrestleMania 35, and carrying the Raw Women's Title for several months, what reason does Lynch have to leave WWE? It's not like she has aired any grievances with the company or has been held down creatively, which would be valid reasons for wanting to leave.

With that being said, however, none of that information exists to the best of anyone's knowledge and that's why there is little reason to believe that Lynch would even want to leave. Think about it! Why would she leave the place that made her a star? Furthermore, why would WWE let their most popular entity slip through their fingers?

Maybe if Lynch had been held back creatively or had her Championship run ended prematurely there would be some reason to believe all this, but none of that exists. Interestingly enough, however, there is some reason to believe that WWE is doing this to set something up down the line.

#4. Several storyline options

This could be a whole new beginning for Becky Lynch!
This could be a whole new beginning for Becky Lynch!

In all honesty, Becky Lynch is in a bit of a state of limbo right now. Not only is that evident by the fact that she has held the company's most prestigious prize for well over eight months now, but also by just how big she has gotten as a Superstar. It's almost as if anything less than amazing just won't suffice.

Believe it or not, WWE openly stating that her contract is up could be a way to put Lynch in an entirely new situation. In fact, between the possibility of her leaving the company, and maybe even turning on the fans in the process, this storyline option gives WWE a lot to go with moving forward.

Seriously, how big would it be if Lynch walked out on the company and turned her back on the fans? While it might cost her a few of her most die-hard supporters in process, it's honestly the only way for her to organically turn heel and is also seemingly the only way her storyline moves forward.

#3. Her upcoming match with Asuka

Becky Lynch versus Asuka. Who wins?

Becky Lynch has already let it be known that her upcoming match against Asuka is personal and the addition of her contract being up is only adding fuel to that fire. Interestingly enough, that seems to be exactly what WWE wants to do and it could have huge implications for Lynch's future.

In all honesty, WWE is using her contract being up as a way to make the storyline between her and Asuka more intense. It is also probably being used so there is an air of uncertainty about Lynch's future, which will give the company a variety of booking options moving forward. It could even be the start of a heel turn!

In the end, everything WWE does is on purpose and they wouldn't let something as big as Lynch's contract be brought up without some kind of permission. The point is that someone signed off on this piece of information reaching air and the company is using this to enhance the storyline in some way.

#2. WWE has done this in the past

Hasn't WWE done this before?
Hasn't WWE done this before?

It's no secret that WWE has pulled this trick in the past with a variety of Superstars and it almost always leads to something interesting down the line. For example, who could forget when CM Punk sat down at the entrance ramp on Raw to announce to the world that his contract was up in the next few weeks and he planned on taking the WWE title with him?

If nothing else, this was the perfect mix of fiction and reality, which really got the fans invested into the magic of it all from the get-go. Fortunately for the WWE Universe, it looks like the company is preparing to explore this again, in one way or another, and it could lead to a variety of booking options.

What WWE plans to do from here remains to be seen and will depend on what their intention is with telling fans that Lynch's contract is up. With that being said, however, everything WWE does has a reason behind it and there is no way they would bring up someone's contract status without it leading to something huge.

#1 Becky Lynch is an important asset

Like it or not, Becky Lynch is the biggest thing in WWE.
Like it or not, Becky Lynch is the biggest thing in WWE.

There is just no way WWE would let such a popular entity like Becky Lynch slip between their fingers. Not only is that evident by the litany of other Superstars that have already signed multi-year deals with the company, but also by just how much Lynch has done for the company over the past few years.

If nothing else, Lynch is the company's most powerful anti-hero and pretty much the de facto leader of the Women's division. She's like John Cena at this point. A win against her says a lot about your future in the company and everyone is dying to know who exactly will get that monumental win.

Again, why would WWE let someone that is so important to the landscape of the company get away without signing a new day? It's not like Lynch has made any issues with the WWE known and vice versa, which would be about the only reason why Lynch would ever choose to leave WWE.

In the end, Lynch is just too big of an entity in WWE to part with. The thing is, both sides know this and that's probably why they are trying to generate buzz by pretending her contract is up. At least that way, it puts Lynch's character in uncharted territory and gives her a chance to eventually turn heel
