One of the things that many people don't realize is that Braun Strowman might just be a transitional Champion. The fact of the matter is that had he not pulled out, Roman Reigns would be the WWE Universal Champion now.

WWE might have considered or wanted the possibility of Goldberg retaining the Championship and sticking around, but his contract expired at WrestleMania 36 and as with the other part-time legends, he didn't return for post-WrestleMania programs.

Because of that, WWE chose Braun Strowman, with the creative team reportedly believing that Strowman was most credible replacement for that spot. It was true and we're glad to see him win his first World Championship, but one can't deny that it was purely due to the circumstances.

Because of that, Strowman might have already gotten the label of being a 'transitional champion' and that alone is a big indicator that he may not going to be Champion for long.
