While there is a lot of evidence to suggest that Vince McMahon has given up on Aleister Black, especially since they just seemingly wrote him off television, it might not be what it seems. In fact, this could just be WWE's way of setting things up for later and bringing the character back in a whole new way.
Remember, Black is still very much a fan favorite in the company, and while early rumors circulated about Vince McMahon giving up on him, that doesn't seem to be the case. It seems like WWE injuring him on Raw could be a way to bring him back with a new coat of paint.
According to Alex McCarthy, Vince McMahon is still very much a fan of Aleister Black, but believes that his gimmick will limit him for some reason or another. That could explain why WWE took him off television and are trying to rework his gimmick in a way that the company hopes will take his character farther than before.
