Why are fans giving up on Seth Rollins?

Seth Rollins was the biggest thing in WWE after defeating Brock Lesnar for the Universal Title at WrestleMania 35, but that wouldn't last long. In fact, Rollins would go on to be thrown into a storyline with his real life fiancée, Becky Lynch, which was popular at first, but didn't seem to really go anywhere after the two defeated Lacey Evans and Baron Corbin at Extreme Rules.

Then, WWE put Rollins up against Braun Strowman, who had already been unsuccessful in previous bids to win the Universal Title and came up short again to Rollins. After two less-than-stellar rivalries coming out of WrestleMania, some resentment has welled up against Rollins.

After the feuds with Baron Corbin and Braun Strowman were over, Rollins was put into a feud with Bray Wyatt, which led to the controversial finish at Hell in a Cell. Of course this really wasn't Rollins' fault (just like anything else he had to do after WrestleMania), as he was just doing what he was told, but it felt like the final straw in what was a long series of unfortunate events during his title reign.

It also felt like Superstars like The Fiend, Braun Strowman, and others were being held down in favor of Rollins, thus only adding fuel to the fire. As if all that wasn't enough to get fans to turn on Rollins, his promos started to become noticeably stale and kind of stopped resonating with the audience in the same way that they had before.

Maybe this is just a case of the WWE Universe wanting something new and are not interested in anything Rollins has to say, but it really felt like Rollins was going backwards in terms of promos. Fortunately for fans however, Rollins finally lost the Universal Title to The Fiend at Crown Jewel, which could be a step in the right direction for his character.

It might not be enough to change public opinion of him though, and could eventually lead to WWE turning him heel to capitalize off of his negative reactions from the crowd, and that might be best for everyone.
