5 Superstars who should replace Dean Ambrose in The Shield while he's injured

The Shield's reunion might have been one of the greatest moments of 2017, but it was quickly derailed by poor booking practices, constant changes to the original identity, viral infections, and now a shoulder injury to Dean Ambrose could leave The Lunatic Fringe out for months.

Of course, that means WWE is either going to have to break The Shield up and have the two remaining Superstars go their separate ways, or find a replacement for Dean Ambrose while he recovers. With that being said and the rumour of Jason Jordan being the one to take that role on, here are five much better options for WWE to pursue.

#5 Bray Wyatt

Bray Wyatt hasn't had a feud of note this year

Let's be honest here, Bray Wyatt has continuously slid down the card ever since losing his WWE title match at WrestleMania 33, and while Wyatt has had a few victories after that, they pale in comparison to the losses he has taken. With that being said, and the likelihood of him losing to "Woken" Matt Hardy in mind, it's pretty obvious he needs a big change here.

What WWE need to do here is end Wyatt's feud with Matt Hardy early, which would probably result in the freeing of Sister Abigail from Wyatt's body, and turn Wyatt babyface after the feud. How WWE accomplishes that is up to them, but they could explain that Sister Abigail was the one making him evil and break the hold she has on him during the feud.

Not only would this idea be a great way to boost The Shield right now, especially since it gives them a once in a lifetime opportunity to join forces and fight alongside Bray Wyatt, it also saves Wyatt from falling further down the card. In the end, it also gives The Shield an extra edge to them that will be very fun to watch for wrestling fans.

#4 Enzo Amore

Enzo Amore,
Enzo Amore hyping up The WWE Universe

Another unlikely pick, but fans have to admit there would be a lot of great opportunities to grow from here. Not only would The Shield have one of the best men on the microphone in their corner, which will only add to the intrigue of how the threesome are booked, it also gives Amore something to do if he loses his Cruiserweight championship.

In fact, it doesn't even have to last long and WWE could just use Amore to generate heat before Rollins and Reigns finally turn on The Certified G. Of course, the crowd would probably lose their minds if Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins laid a smackdown on Enzo Amore and that would be a great way to get fans behind The Shield heading into WrestleMania 34.

That's the kind of momentum WWE needs right now, and while it probably isn't everyone's first choice for who to join the future Hall of Fame group, it is a means to an end to help Roman Reigns gain momentum for WrestleMania 34.

#3 Kurt Angle

Kurt Angle,
Kurt Angle celebrating in the ring!

The Shield already teamed up with The Olympic Gold medalist at TLC to take on The Miz and his four-man team, and while the match had to be greatly changed due to Reigns no longer being able to compete, it wasn't really that bad. In fact, the crowd popped pretty loudly when Angle was able to pin The Miz for the victory.

In the end, this probably wouldn't be the best long-term option, especially with Kurt Angle's age and previous injuries, but if WWE wants to, they should definitely try to capitalise on a dream team concept like this. Not only would it help The Shield and give them a boost , it also allows the WWE Universe to continue to see something they haven't before.

#2 Triple H

Triple H,
Triple H making fun of Dean Ambrose

Another one that has already happened once, and although it would be hard to make Triple H a babyface again, the mega group would definitely be something special for fans to enjoy. Not only that, it could also serve as a great way to tease a heel turn for The Shield right before WrestleMania 34.

With that being said, it's got to be done the right way. Maybe WWE can have Triple H offer to join the faction, but then start to slowly manipulate Reigns into doing his dirty work. Triple H could then threaten to take Reigns's opportunity at the Universal Title away if he doesn't do what he is told, which would set up a little hostility between Reigns and Rollins as well.

The end result would be to help make Kurt Angle's life a living hell until he quits. From there, The Shield would realise that they are only being manipulated by Triple H, turn on him and help Kurt Angle defeat him at WrestleMania 34. Then Reigns gets his title match as planned and actually beats Brock Lesnar clean to finally hold every title in the company.

#1 Finn Balor

Finn Balor
The Demon King, Finn Balor

It's no secret that Finn Balor needs something to do after being stuck in storyline purgatory over the past couple months and what better way to do that then to put him with The Shield? Not only would it give the WWE Universe a chance to see a dream team be created for the foreseeable future, it also helps Reigns and Rollins continue on as a unit.

With that being said, the possibilities would be endless from there and might even be a great way to create a Finn Balor heel turn as well. Sure, Balor might lose some fan support in the process, especially after betraying Rollins and Reigns, but it would make sense if a chance at the Universal Title was on the line and could be a launching point for all three stars.

In the end, it's up to WWE when it comes to what to do here, but the company will most likely be walking on eggshells if they don't choose the right person for this coveted position. In fact, if the right person isn't picked, or WWE decides to break up The Shield, it could have devastating consequences on each Superstar's build to WrestleMania 34.
