5 superstars who can replace Mustafa Ali in the WWE Championship Elimination Chamber match

Will Bray Wyatt make his long-awaited return to in-ring action?
Will Bray Wyatt make his long-awaited return to in-ring action?

Mustafa Ali is one of the most promising talents on Smackdown LIVE. Even before completing two months on the main roster, the 32-year-old had competed in high profile matches against the likes of Daniel Bryan and Randy Orton.

However, owing to the tailbone injury suffered at Royal Rumble 2019 and a swollen eye (due to a botched stomp from Randy Orton), the reports have it that Mustafa Ali may have to miss the 2019 Elimination Chamber main event for the WWE Championship.

Even amidst this unfortunate incident, the show must go on. Elimination Chamber matches are some of the most anticipated bouts in a calendar year and thus, cannot be sacrificed. Hence, if Ali cannot make it to the Chamber match, here are a few alternative superstars who can replace him for the WWE title match this Sunday.

#5 Bray Wyatt

Bray Wyatt could make his return at the same event where he won his first WWE title

Even though Bray Wyatt was last seen on RAW, there is no denying that the Eater of Worlds had his best days on Smackdown LIVE. Wyatt became the WWE Champion 2 years ago at Elimination Chamber after pinning both John Cena and AJ Styles clean. Thus it would only be poetic if Wyatt makes his return to the blue brand and possibly get his eyes on the title.

Wyatt has not been on WWE TV for quite a long time now. With Wrestlemania around the corner, and with no signs of WWE hinting at his return, one would worry about Wyatt's Wrestlemania status. Wyatt has been posting cryptic messages on his social media accounts, but that is the only update we have about him so far.

So, if Wyatt wants to rekindle his Wrestlemania hopes, he would need to return as soon as possible to the WWE ring. With an opportunity looming, it would be foolish if Bray does not take it.

#4 Rey Mysterio

Even though Rey Mysterio has been giving us some of the best TV matches for the last few weeks, he is not in the main event scene. The luchador is a three-time World Champion, and the veteran would love to make it four.

Mysterio is not a stranger to the Chamber matches as he already boasts a record of three appearances inside the Chamber, and finished as the runner up twice.

#3 Andrade "Cien" Almas

Rey Mysterio's current rival and fellow luchador Andrade "Cien" Almas has been on fire since his debut. Even though he has not been winning many matches as he would like, it is a treat to watch him wrestle. Almas' matches are often received with "This is Awesome" chants.

Almas has never been in the WWE title picture, and this would be a massive opportunity for him. Having someone as innovative as Almas inside the Chamber will only elevate the quality of the match.

#2 Rusev

Rusev is not happy about his creative direction and he is not quiet about it. The Bulgarian Brute has been lingering in the undercard ever since WWE decided to split the fan favorite "Rusev Day". Without Aiden English, Rusev has never been the same.

The Bulgarian Brute has been outspoken about his dissatisfaction with his booking. He has been working out harder than ever before yet Vince McMahon ignores him for some reason. The matter is made even worse since both Rusev and Lana have been dropped from Total Divas as well.

With the lack of opportunities, Rusev may find it tempting to leave WWE once his contract expires. With All Elite Wrestling looking forward to signing the best talents in the industry, Rusev could easily choose AEW. However, WWE could convince him by giving him an opportunity to fight for the WWE Championship at Elimination Chamber 2019.

#1 Luke Harper

Luke Harper has been spotted by many fans on the set of this week's Smackdown LIVE. It may mean that Harper would finally make his long-awaited return to a WWE arena tonight.

Harper has always been a talented wrestler who was lost in the mix. Harper is one of the complete packages - a tall guy with extreme agility and a diverse moveset. His mic skills are also more than decent.

WWE never gave him the push he deserved. The closest Harper came to a world title opportunity was on the pre-Wrestlemania 2017 season, where he faced AJ Styles to determine the challenger for Bray Wyatt's WWE Championship. After that, Harper was repackaged as a Bludgeon Brother, along with Erick Rowan.

With Rowan on Daniel Bryan's side, it would be interesting to see a Harper return and his alliances. It would be interesting if he decides to challenge Daniel Bryan and be a part of the Elimination Chamber match.
