5 superstars who could answer Reigns' open challenge

You want some, come get some!
You want some, come get some!

Roman Reigns brought back the Open Challenge this week on RAW and his first challenge against Elias was a massive success. The Open Challenge has always been a novel concept to produce PPV-quality matches on weekly television while making both the competitors come out looking like a million bucks.

Elias' performance against Reigns proved that he is one of the best superstars in the company who needs a solid booking and a good storyline to position himself on top of the mountain.

Reigns won the match but coming out of RAW, both him and Elias are legit superstars in the company and this should be an achievement of sorts for WWE.

Reigns' reign is still not over though and if this becomes a weekly tradition, we could be treated with some fantastic encounters each week on Monday Night RAW. Let's look at five superstars who could answer the Big Dog's challenge.

#5 Jeff Hardy

Brother Nero vs Big Dog? Take my money!
Brother Nero vs Big Dog? Take my money!

Jeff Hardy has been injured for quite some time now but returned to a WWE ring at Starrcade last weekend looking healthier and fit to go. A date for his in-ring return is yet not scheduled but expect him to return to the ring soon.

Jeff has won a lot of championships in WWE and was an Intercontinental Champion back in 2007. Jeff has never faced Roman Reigns one-on-one, and a match between these two could tear the house down.

It can be a great way to bring back "Brother Nero" and will definitely catch the fans' attention due to WWE's top star of the late 2000s facing their current star. The Charismatic Enigma vs The Big Dog will be awesome!

#4 Neville

Neville was on his way out of WWE back in October but according to recent reports he is back on good terms with the company and will make his return to the squared circle soon enough. Neville is a talented athlete who has an excellent list of matches under his belt during his time in WWE.

Neville's return to the ring facing off against Roman Reigns will be monumental and can produce an instant classic. Cedric Alexander tweeted that the superstars from the 205 Live roster could also step up to the challenge, and to have Neville face off against the Big Dog will be a delightful sight.

"The Man that Gravity Forgot" versus Roman Reigns can also help in bridging the gap between the main roster and the 205 Live roster, leading to more matches between the superstars from both the rosters.

#3 Drew McIntyre

Could the former IC and NXT champion debut against Reigns?
Could the former IC and NXT champion debut against Reigns?

Drew McIntyre, the Chosen One, returned to WWE earlier this year and won the NXT Championship in his Takeover debut. He lost to Andrade "Cien" Almas at Takeover: WarGames which led many to believe that a main-roster call-up is on the cards for McIntyre.

However, due to the injury he suffered in the final moments of the match, he could be out of action for quite some time. When he returns, he should be skyrocketed to the main roster and a debut against Roman Reigns will make the crowd go wild!

Drew McIntyre is a former Intercontinental Champion and is one of the best overall performers in the company. The former "Chosen One" answering the challenge will be a great sight.

#2 Seth Rollins

No bad blood between the brothers.
No bad blood between the brothers.

Yes, the Shield has reunited, but that doesn't mean we can't see the brothers-in-arms facing each other! Seth Rollins has won every title in the company apart from the Intercontinental Championship and him answering Roman's challenge, just because he wants to complete his Grand Slam will be a tremendous sight.

Seth was the first superstar to win a title after the Shield broke up but currently, both Reigns and Ambrose have completed their Grand Slam but not Seth. The Architect could answer the challenge in a friendly way and produce an instant classic.

No matter what the result is, the fans will be in for a treat to see the Shield mates fighting each other. However, WWE needs to keep this a strict one-off match and not sow the seeds of a Shield breakup, if this match ever happens.

#1 John Cena

A massive show of respect!
A massive show of respect!

Guess who hasn't completed his Grand Slam even after spending more than fifteen years in the company! Cena has been the top guy in WWE for years but Reigns seems to have taken up that role after their match at No Mercy. It was a symbolic passing-of-torch match and a big moment in WWE history.

However, Cena needs to win the Intercontinental Championship before he leaves WWE for good and answering Reigns' challenge to fulfil his destiny will be an epic moment. Cena introduced the Open Challenge concept in WWE and him returning to take on Reigns in an open challenge will be a special moment.

Cena vs Reigns too can be a beautiful sight to watch.

Let's wait and watch who will answer "The Big Dog" when he calls out his fellow wrestlers for the title bout.
