Daniel Bryan will return to the ring at WrestleMania 34

It has been a long wait but it has finally happened - Daniel Bryan will return to the ring at WrestleMania 34. This is a moment that the WWE universe has been waiting for, and promises to bring in some much-needed excitement into the WWE.

However, the WWE do have to find a new General Manager for SmackDown Live to replace Bryan as he returns to a wrestling role. This is a task which is easier said than done, and the WWE will need to give some serious thought regarding the appointment of a successor to Daniel Bryan.

The big issue at the moment will be deciding on who will be the new General Manager of SmackDown Live. In this article, we will look at 5 possible replacements for Bryan's role as the General Manager.

#1 Edge

WWE Smackdown - Sydney
The Rated-R Superstar would make for an interesting Smackdown Live! GM

Edge is perhaps one of the most charismatic superstars to have ever stepped into a WWE ring. He received a massive reaction from audiences even during his run as a heel. Much of his heel run happened while the Rated-R superstar was drafted to Smackdown, and who could forget his story-line with Vickie Guerrero whilst on the blue brand?

Love him or hate him, nobody can deny that he makes any segment which he is a part of interesting and exciting, which is exactly what will be needed in order to inject some life into Smackdown.

There is absolutely no doubt that Edge making a return to the WWE as Smackdown Live General Manager would be a massive boost to the company. With Shane McMahon stepping out of the spotlight and Daniel Bryan returning to the ring, Smackdown Live will need some significant star power present and active on the show if it is to successfully compete with RAW.

Perhaps it's time that Tuesday nights became Rated-R?

#2 Hulk Hogan

Rumors have it that Hulk Hogan could make his return to the WWE soon

Hulk Hogan is one of the biggest names in the wrestling world and he remains a legend in the industry. With the WWE openly acknowledging that they have been in talks with The Hulkster again, one may feel that an appointment as Smackdown Live! General Manager is on the cards.

His brief return in 2014 was put to an abrupt end following a leaked sex tape in which he made several strong racial comments that gave rise to a massive media scandal. The WWE were quick to respond to this and terminated their relationship with the man, but it seems that the company is keen on bringing him back into the fold.

With his public image somewhat stained by this scandal, the WWE have to deal with a decision on whether or not to appoint Hulk Hogan as the general manager for SmackdownLive carefully, especially since he would likely be appearing weekly on television.

However, one can't deny the massive star power which the man does possess, not to imagine the interesting plot which could unfold as the WWE place him against fellow former TNA star Kurt Angle who is the general manager of Raw.

#3 Eric Bischoff

Bischoff might be what SmackDown Live needs

Eric Bischoff might be a surprise name on the list, but the WWE would do well to consider him for the role of SmackDown Live General Manager.

Everyone who has heard about the man knows that he knows exactly how to take the fight to Raw, and this would make him the perfect man for the role.

#4 Sting

Sting would be a great asset to SmackDown Live

A lot of fans have waited for a long time for the day that Sting would make it to the WWE. One thing is certainly clear - the WWE Universe wants to see Sting in the WWE.

Having retired from in-ring competition, Sting will not be having any matches in the WWE anytime soon. However, his mere presence in the WWE is enough to boost ratings for the brand, and one of the best places he can do this is on SmackDown Live.

#5 Shawn Michaels

Shawn Michaels could be the perfect man to go against Triple H and Stephanie on Raw

Since his retirement, Shawn Michaels has remained a figure within the WWE, even being involved in several storylines over the years. The Showstopper is still a huge hit with the WWE Universe and receives an amazing reception from the audience each time he makes his way to a WWE ring. This is something that the WWE should take note of.

Becoming the General Manager of the blue brand makes sense for a lot of reasons, but perhaps the most notable of all being that he was considered to have a match against AJ Styles. With The Phenomenal One being on the blue brand, Michaels serving as General Manager on Smackdown Live might be the perfect way to set up a future match between the two superstars.
