5 Superstars who must move to WWE Smackdown Live in 2017

Cesaro would be right at home on WWE Smackdown Live

One can argue that 2017 is already off to a strong start for WWE, with Kurt Angle set for WrestleMania weekend and the recent WWE United Kingdom Championship Tournament going off without a hitch.

Thus, if the past few weeks have been any indication, fans could be in for another exciting and unpredictable year from the WWE.

That said, there are still several things that need to happen in the remainder of the year, including brand moves. It is currently unknown when the next WWE draft will take place, but there are a handful of Superstars that should be sent packing to SmackDown Live as soon as possible.

Raw might provide competitors with a bigger platform, but truth be told, SmackDown Live is the land of opportunity.

Plenty of people are lost in the shuffle on Raw, so whether they switch shows in the draft or are traded to Tuesday nights, these five wrestlers needed to make the move to the blue brand in the very near future.

#5 Cedric Alexander

Cedric Alexander has turned heads with his recent work in the Cruiserweight division

Of everyone in the Cruiserweight division, Cedric Alexander is one of the most over athletes at the moment due to his natural charisma and exceptional in-ring ability. However, his recent love triangle with Alicia Fox and Noam Dar hasn't done him any favors and has only hindered his momentum.

Needless to say, it is only inevitable that Alexander leaves the Cruiserweight division and moves on to bigger and better things. He has the potential to be a breakout babyface in the midcard scene, but he would definitely be directionless on Raw if that were to happen.

On SmackDown Live, there's a fair chance that Alexander would get his just due. He would be a perfect fit as Intercontinental champion, and it may not be out of the realm of possibility for him to ascend even higher up the card eventually.

#4 Cesaro

Cesaro could be a breakout star in no time on the blue brand

For how many years have we been saying that Cesaro has all the tools necessary to be a world champion? WWE has missed the boat with him on so many occasions over the years, and his placement on Raw coming out of the 2016 WWE draft was mind-boggling.

In fact, Cesaro himself said that same night he felt like he belonged on SmackDown Live.

Granted, he has made the most of his move to Monday nights by forming an enjoyable alliance with Sheamus and winning the Raw Tag Team Championship, but this is far from the first time Cesaro has been relegated to the tag team scene.

Cesaro could be competing among the elite at the main event level right now on SmackDown. At least there he would have a better chance of becoming world champion at long last instead of being overshadowed by the likes of Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, Kevin Owens and Chris Jericho.

#3 Sasha Banks

Sasha Banks could contest some stellar matches with the women of SmackDown Live

This might seem like a strange choice considering Sasha Banks appeared to be a major focal point for the women on Raw coming out of the draft, but let's face it: the spotlight has been and always will be on Charlotte Flair, not Banks.

There were never any long-term plans in place for Banks to receive a lengthy reign as Raw Women's champion, hence why she was never able to beat Charlotte when it mattered most, on pay-per-view.

Their series of matches were historic, but Banks came out of the program weaker than when it started.

Banks needs to turn heel regardless of what show she is a part of because that is the role that fits her best, but she could become the top dog on Tuesday nights that she never really was on Raw.

The Boss vs. Alexa Bliss, Becky Lynch and the returning Mickie James are all intriguing possibilities.

#2 Sami Zayn

How much longer must Sami Zayn continue to suffer on Raw?

Similar to Cesaro, I have no doubt that Sami Zayn would be a much bigger priority on SmackDown Live than he currently is on Raw. Sure, he has received quite a bit of television time as of late, but he had been largely left off television for many months in the latter half of 2016.

It never made any sense to put Zayn and his archenemy Kevin Owens on the same show following their epic encounter at Battleground.

Zayn could have been selected by SmackDown, experienced success, and they could have rekindled their rivalry down the road and it would have meant that much more.

Perhaps I'll be eating my words after Sunday if Zayn somehow manages to win the Royal Rumble, but otherwise, he would be a better fit on the blue brand. If WWE put the same effort into making a star out of Zayn as they did with James Ellsworth, he might have been a world champion by now.

#1 The Club

The Club reuniting with AJ Styles on SmackDown Live would be just too sweet

No one is in more a desperate need of a roster change at the moment than The Club, who have fallen far since they were split from AJ Styles in the 2016 WWE draft.

They appeared to be destined for big things heading into SummerSlam, but WWE was determined to have The New Day break Demolition's record as Raw Tag Team champions, as a result, the Club failed to capture the twin titles on countless occasions.

Even now, they remain in contention for the titles, but it won't nearly be as big a moment as it would have been many months ago. Not only do they need to win gold eventually, they must be moved over to SmackDown Live within the next few months.

Styles is flourishing on his own, but it wouldn't hurt to reunite the entire Club to give Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows something noteworthy to do. But if they continue along the path they have been on recently, they could very well be damaged goods before long.
