5 Superstars Who Need To Feud With John Cena When He Returns

John Cena has been absent from WWE after the Greatest Royal Rumble, where he picked up a win against Triple H after suffering, what many would say, the worst defeat of his career at the hands of The Undertaker at Wrestlemania 34.

Although the chances of a rematch between The Undertaker and John Cena at Wrestlemania are high, the feud will not start until Wrestlemania season.

Let us take a look at the feuds which are most likely to occupy the 16-time World Champion in the meantime:

#5 Elias

John Cena and Elias had a brief feud with each other sometime before Wrestlemania which saw them face-off in a match at the 25th December edition of RAW. The two brought the house down and got rave reviews for their match.

The two met again on RAW in a promo segment, in which many say, Elias, showed that he can hang with one of the greatest mic workers of all time with ease. The two were also a part of a segment at Wrestlemania 34 before Cena would go on to face Undertaker in a losing effort.

It could be said that the two have unfinished business as of now, and a long-term program with an up and comer like Elias could really help solidify The Drifter as a top star in WWE.

#4 Triple H

We last saw these two former multi-time World Champions compete against each other in the opening match of the Greatest Royal Rumble event which was held on the 27th April 2018, just weeks after WrestleMania.

After losing to The Undertaker at Wrestlemania in under 5 minutes, John Cena managed to pick up the win against the Cerebral Assasin in a hard-fought battle.

Triple H is not one to let things go easily, and the current WWE COO will look to avenge his loss by going after John Cena when he returns.

It would be wise for WWE to build this match up in a long drawn manner and have the two men have their rematch at a marquee event like SummerSlam or Survivor Series.

#3 Dolph Ziggler

Dolph Ziggler has been languishing in the mid-card for almost the entirety of his career. He seems to suffer from a curse of having his push pulled as soon as he starts getting over. This hot and cold booking has resulted in killing Ziggler's momentum entirely.

A heel turn and a repackaged character also failed to work for the man who calls himself "Perfection".

Now, having been drafted to RAW with Drew McIntyre by his side, Ziggler has one last shot to make an impression. In order to establish Ziggler as a legitimate heel, a feud with a returning John Cena could do wonders.

#2 Randy Orton

Randy Orton and John Cena started their careers in WWE at the same time, and in the past 15 years have almost become synonymous with each other over the years. Coming out of the same developmental batch in OVW which also included the likes of Batista and Brock Lesnar, the two men have grown to become the two most reliable pillars of WWE.

Over the course of their careers, the two men have crossed paths on multiple occasions and have been seen as the arch-nemesis of each other.

Although the two have faced each other in the past few years, it has been more than 3 years since they were involved in a feud with each other.

Orton has been lackluster and dull ever since he got drafted to SmackDown and it looks like the only person who has the capability to wake the sleeping viper is John Cena.

#1 Braun Strowman

The Monster Among Men has received the monster among all pushes in the last year; winning the RAW Tag Team Championships at Wrestlemania and the first ever 50-man royal rumble at the Greatest Royal Rumble event.

Braun Strowman is one of the most popular Superstars on the active roster right now, and most fans believe that he should be made the top face of the company instead of Roman Reigns.

In order to become the next face of the company, it is imminent for Braun to go up against the litmus test of John Cena. A victory of John Cena will not only be a milestone achievement in his career but will also establish Strowman as the next top babyface of WWE, at least in terms of mass appeal.
