5 superstars who should be headlining Mania in 5 years

WWE WrestleMania is the showcase of the immortals and regardless of the time of year, there’s never a bad time to start talking about it. Some fans don’t like that because they feel as if the event holds up a lot of storylines in the months prior, but when it comes to this argument, we’ve got a long way to go before our queries are answered.

The future is a tough thing to determine in any line of work, but in professional wrestling, it gets even harder. One day someone can be the hottest guy or girl on the roster and then the next, they’re an afterthought. Sometimes it isn’t always fair, but nine times out of ten there’s a reason for it.

In an era where your age doesn’t seem to matter so much, we’ve determined who we believe will be prepared to take part in the main event on the grandest stage of them all in 2022. We can’t dictate the circumstances, of course, but given what we have to base our opinions on – these picks are hard to deny.

So with that being said, here are five superstars who should be headlining Mania in 5 years.

5) Roman Reigns

Roman will always be in the mix
Roman will always be in the mix

We’re prepared to take some heat for this, especially given that Reigns is on the verge of headlining his fourth consecutive WrestleMania next year in New Orleans. The Big Dog has been positioned to be ‘the guy’ for a long time now and while lots of people refuse to accept that, the bottom line is that nothing has been able to prevent his ascent to the top of the pecking order.

In five years time not only will Roman still be one of ‘the guys’ in the main event scene, but he’ll also be incredibly established in that position. In all likelihood, there’s going to be an extended heel run for the former world champ coming soon, and as the years go on he’s only going to get better and better. You may not like him, but moving forward, you need to respect him.

4) Braun Strowman

If you’d have said 18 months ago that Braun Strowman would soon become one of the greatest big man wrestlers of all time, we would’ve laughed in your face. The former strongman competitor is a mountain of a man and only seems to be going from strength to strength, which is bizarre given that he’s essentially still a rookie in many ways.

Braun is destined to become world champion and, weirdly enough, could soon become the closest thing that we’ve seen to Stone Cold Steve Austin within the last decade in terms of fan reactions. Everywhere he goes, this guy is money; and even though he’ll be approaching 40 in 2022, that means nothing when it comes to this genre.

3) Bray Wyatt

Bray Wyatt may not exactly look like a spring chicken in terms of his appearance, but the guy has only just entered his 30s. He has a wealth of experience which is scary given how much potential he still has, and while he hasn’t had much luck at WrestleMania in the past, the quality of his opposition tells us that the WWE has some big plans for him in the future.

As the modern day Undertaker you could build him up to be either a phenomenal babyface or a cold-hearted heel, and either way, he’d wind up being incredibly successful. It’ll take some time to build him back up as a credible threat but, realistically, it makes all the sense in the world to consider the possibility of him getting even better as he enters his prime.

2) Aleister Black

He may be unconventional, but he's a tremendous performer

We take a trip down into developmental now for our first and only NXT selection – Aleister Black. A few years ago this would’ve seemed like an utterly baffling choice, but after just over six months in NXT, it’s already become crystal clear that Black has the gimmick and in-ring ability to do some great things on the main roster one day.

They’ve even tested him out on European live events already, and that doesn’t happen to everyone. Black has ‘star power’ written all over him and his alternative look is going to gain him an even bigger fan base going forward, and he could just end up being one of the greatest NXT success stories yet.

1) Seth Rollins

We tried not to be too obvious here, but come on, it’s Seth freakin’ Rollins. Even when he was running rampant as the chicken heel world champion we could all see that he was destined to become a top babyface one day, and while things haven’t exactly gone perfectly in the last twelve months, he’s well on his way to becoming the top guy in the company.

He’s on the cover of the video game, he’s back with The Shield, and his matches are consistently great on a weekly basis. Rollins has already walked out of one WrestleMania main event with the title and that was before he even hit his prime, so we can only imagine what he’d be capable of if he was given that same opportunity in five years time.
