At the same time last year, The Miz was easily the hottest act in the entire WWE, with his Intercontinental Title program with Seth Rollins and Finn Balor easily being the best storyline on Raw. However, in the past 12 months, his stock has taken quite a hit, and even though he is involved in a bigger program this time out with Shane McMahon, he is far from the character he was a year ago.

A lot of that can be attributed to the weird booking that his dream program with Daniel Bryan over the summer received, and while Daniel Bryan recovered from it in the best way possible, The Miz struggled for credibilty up until the beginning of this year. His program with Shane McMahon, which was also weird in the beginning, has brought some life back to the A-Lister's character.

What he needs now is a big win at WrestleMania 35 over McMahon to return back to prominence. He is over with the fans with his new good guy character and deserves a long run at the top of the ladder with this persona, something that is possible only if he defeats The Prodigal Son this Sunday. A hard fought win after a brutal match would do more for The Miz at this point than a sneaky win had ever done in his entire career.
