WWE Survivor Series 2017: 5 surprise returns we might see

About time that the Rock showed up in the WWE...don't ya think?
About time that the Rock showed up in the WWE... don't ya think?

Given that Survivor Series is one of the traditional 'Big 4' events of the year, WWE will likely pull out all the stops in an effort to make it memorable.

But what's a WWE mega pay-per-view event without surprise returns?

They can build on the under siege angle all they want and ripen it till Roman Reigns comes back to tip the balance towards Raw (surprise, surprise)...but nothing adds to the 'oomph' of a show more than an unannounced return.

Now, with a number of Champion vs Champion matches on display, along with the destruction derby that the traditional Survivor Series 5-on-5 match promises to be, there is a lot of scope for the WWE to bring back a Superstar at the pay-per-view for one night only.

Who can they bring back?

That's what we speculate about in this article, 5 surprise returns that the WWE can spring on us at Survivor Series.

As always, if you feel we've missed out on someone you'd like to see back or someone you think is likely to return, do hit us up in the comments section below!

We're going back to the days of the Divas...are we?
We're going back to the days of the Divas...are we?

The blonde bombshell has been teasing a potential return to WWE television and we'd like to take her up on it.

In her own words:

Like I tell everybody, there is no feeling like walking through that curtain and having the fans chant your name. That’s a feeling unlike anything else. I always say, ‘Never say never.’ I’m only 30 and my body’s still intact. I may have a few more matches in me. You never know!

Whether that means that she will return at Survivor Series, we don't quite know. But it would at least be worth a 'pop' or two from the crowd if she does decide to show up.

However -- and I have to say this -- there is a strong likelihood that she dissolves into obscurity after a few weeks of being back, just like Maria Kanellis.

#2 Ronda Rousey

Ronda Rousey
Survivor Series might host the debut of this UFC Legend

The fifth spot in the Women’s team for SmackDown Live has been left vacant and Ronda Rousey has begun training at the WWE Performance Center.

How bleeding convenient, eh?

The former UFC Bantamweight Champion has long professed her love for pro wrestling and showed herself more than capable of handling an in-ring appearance at WrestleMania 31 when she was involved in a segment with the Rock, Triple H and Stephanie McMahon.

Ever since then, Rousey’s full-time involvement with the WWE has been a question of when rather than if.

And considering that she’ likely done with the UFC after back-to-back knockout losses to Holly Holm and Amanda Nunes, Survivor Series would be a good time as any to start, wouldn’t it?

#3 Paige

Is Paige ready to jump back into action at Survivor Series?
Is Paige ready to jump back into action at Survivor Series?

The original Anti Diva has been posting updates about her return of late, and we quite like the sound of them.

After teasing on a couple of occasions that she's close to a WWE return in the past few of months, the most definitive update we've received so far has been the tweet she sent out yesterday, thanking her colleagues for getting her ready for action.

If this means that her rehabilitation is complete and she's ready to return to action, she comes at a time when the Women's Revolution seriously needs a pick-me-up.

Be it on SmackDown Live or on Raw, Paige's return could be a welcome sight... especially on the back of bidding adieu to Emma.

#4 Undertaker

Showing up at Survivor Series gives the WWE ample time to build towards one (more) last match at WM 34

It looks like the Undertaker return rumours will never die down... just like the man. How fitting.

But seriously speaking, his 'retirement' at WrestleMania 33 left a bitter taste in just about everyone's mouth.

If a legend, a bonafide Hall of Famer... an irreplaceable entity like the Undertaker calls it a day, there has to be a better way to go out than to stumble through a match with Roman Reigns.

Yes... he did lay his wrestling gear in the middle of the ring in a symbolic gesture...but nothing is certain in the WWE until it's written in stone.

So the million dollar question remains...will he return and involve himself in the Team Shane vs Team Angle match?

After all, he did say he's not done takin' souls and diggin' holes quite yet, didn't he?

#5 The Rock

If The Rock is to be believed - and it is a big if - he wants to stick his size thirteen right up Roman Reigns' candy a**.

You'd think that he'd be more supportive of his cousin given that the last time we saw the Rock, he did try to put him over that fateful night at Royal Rumble 2015.

But no. Apparently, the Great One wants to show Reigns first hand how being the top guy is done in the WWE and listed the Big Dog as one of the three names that he would like to wrestle when quizzed by a fan recently.

Oh, and did I forget to mention that he also included Triple H and Brock Lesnar in the list?

Now, I'd take these comments with a pinch of salt as we all know just how busy the Rock is being the Rock.

But purely from the standpoint of a fan who grew up watching him electrify the millions... come back, Rocky. It's about time you did.
