5 surprise superstars who could win the Andre The Giant Battle Royal

The Andre
The Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal is set to receive a huge platform this year

Well, with the release of a feature detailing the life of Andre The Giant due for release this year, see the trailer below, it looks like the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal is set to get a HUGE spot on the WrestleMania card this year.

Rumours are already flying around about who could be set to add their name in the history books as the winner of the fifth ever Andre The Giant Battle Royal.

The four previous winners have been pretty surprising in their own right - with Cesaro shocking the world to win the inaugural event after slamming Big Show in a way that would conjure memories of Hulk Hogan bodyslamming Andre himself at WrestleMania III.

Since then, Big Show himself has gone on to win, NXT debutant Baron Corbin became the third ever winner and this year's event saw Rob Gronkowski help Mojo Rawley defeat Jinder Mahal to win the event.

The Big
The Big Show was the second ever winner of the Andre Battle Royal

After his immense showing in the Royal Rumble, I almost put Finn Balor or Seth Rollins in this list, but I believe WWE has other plans for the leader of Balor Club this year and I'd hope the same goes for The Architect.

So, who made the list? Click next to find out.

#5 Goldberg

Goldberg has emerged as an early favorite to win the match

Well, I'm getting this one out of the way early. You can never ignore reports in the media when it comes to things like this, but it still seems very unlikely that just days after his induction into the Hall of Fame, Goldberg would emerge to win the Battle Royal.

You can never write him off though and if he's in it, he's a surefire bet to win it. Remember, he did co-headline WrestleMania last year in a losing effort against Brock Lesnar where he lost the Universal Championship after a monumental rivalry that saw him defeat Lesnar in one of the quickest losses of The Beast's career.

You can read more about our take on the rumors that the former WCW star will win the match here.

#4 Drew McIntyre

The former Intercontinental Champion could be in line for a huge return at Mania

A giant of a man who many believe will come straight onto the main roster on his return to WWE. There's only one massive speedbump that keeps McIntyre firmly in the fourth spot on this list - the injury that's sidelined the former NXT Champion for the past few months.

McIntyre is no stranger to the main roster and has made a triumphant return to WWE after his return to the indies, but a torn bicep means the Scotsman is currently on the shelf with no real timescale on a return.

He could be back in time for WrestleMania - the big question is whether he goes back to NXT to challenge for the Championship or steps up onto the main roster, and winning this Battle Royal could cap the perfect redemption story for McIntyre.

#3 Killian Dain

Killian Dain shocked the world on his main roster debut in the Battle Royal

While he's still an NXT talent, Killian Dain is no stranger to the match, having made the final three in his first-ever appearance.

It may be less likely now with Dain now potentially being seen as more of a tag team talent as part of dominant faction SAnitY, but you can never write off the man formerly known as The Beast of Belfast.

#2 Braun Strowman

If entered in the match, who would bet against Braun?!

This one is a bit of a double-edged sword. A lot of people were upset last year when Braun Strowman was in the match and not higher on the card. Potentially even more of the WWE Universe were upset when the Monster Among Men didn't win the match.

There are strong rumors that Braun will partner with Ronda Rousey in her debut against Triple H and Stephanie - but of course, the powerhouse could still be on his way to a Universal Championship shot at WrestleMania if he wins the Elimination Chamber Match.

He and Brock do have quite the history, after all, but he could easily slot into the Andre Battle Royal if none of the above happens.

#1 Aleister Black

The dark horse could make the rest of the roster Fade to Black at WrestleMania

Well, this may be an answer that could shock many, but I did say "surprising" entrants who could win.

Now, the rumor is that Aleister Black will challenge Andrade Cien Almas for the NXT Championship on the TakeOver the night before WrestleMania - and, with one defeat that didn't see Black submit or be pinned, you'd have to make his favorite.

This may not be the case as it's only a rumor right now, but even if it does happen, I think there are two routes WWE could go to introduce Aleister Black to the masses.

Either he comes in and wins as NXT Champion, and either goes back to NXT or relinquishes the belt to compete on the main roster.

Or, and this one might be unpopular, loses to Almas at TakeOver New Orleans and enters the Battle Royal on a rampage, destroying everything and everyone in sight.

Either way, Black is one of the most over and Superstars in WWE right now and is, deservedly, receiving a monster push. Don't be shocked to see Black either as top dog in NXT or on the main roster after WrestleMania.
