At NXT TakeOver: In Your House, we saw the talented Xia Li get her first TakeOver win as she defeated Mercedes Martinez.
Li has been on WWE programming since the 2017 Mae Young Classic. She had limited success in NXT until joining the Tian Sha faction in November last year.
Since then, the Chinese superstar has undergone a dramatic transformation and has become a ruthless competitor. She just needed a big win at NXT TakeOver: In Your House to continue her momentum.
Her seven-minute match against Mercedes Martinez really put Li over as a dominant force. However, the biggest surprise came after the bout was over.
Xia Li and Boa were unsuccessful in using a steel chair to complete a post-match attack on Martinez and that is when Mei Ying took matters into her own hands.
The mysterious woman, who hadn’t left her throne until last night, stood up and completed an attack on Martinez.
Ying was able to choke out the veteran and throw her against the barricade. What will we see from Mei Ying now? Tian Sha certainly grabbed a lot of eyeballs at NXT TakeOver: In Your House.
