As we head into the Royal Rumble, the current Raw Tag Team Champions are none other than the pairing of Bobby Roode and Chad Gable. Both men have plenty of experience from being in tag teams, due to Roode's involvement in Impact Wrestling as Beer Money Inc and Team Canada as well as Chad Gable's stints with American Alpha, along with teaming up with Shelton Benjamin.

The speculation surrounding the wrestling world is that the long term idea for the team of Roode and Gable is to eventually split them up with Roode turning heel. This might possibly be the reason why they are the current champions, as it seems as if WWE want to give them enough credibility before pulling the trigger on Roode's potential heel turn.

There are many tag teams on Raw that have what it takes to take the Raw Tag Team title belts away from Roode and Gable, so here are 5 tag teams that should dethrone them to become the new Raw Tag Team Champions.

#5 The Authors of Pain

Funnily enough, AOP was the tag team that Roode and Gable faced that led to the newly formed team becoming the new Raw Tag Team Champions on the December, 10th 2018 edition of Raw in a Three-On-Two Handicap match as AOP teamed up with their current manager, Drake Maverick. It was a shocking decision for some, as the entire WWE Universe had expected AOP to retain.

But the fact that Maverick was the man to take the pinfall suggests that creative did not want Akam and Rezar to look weak. They have also yet to gain their rematches for the tag team titles, which shows that AOP may be the next team in line to regain the Raw Tag Team Championships against Roode and Gable.

AOP only held the titles in their first reign for 35 days, but they have proven that they can run a Tag Team division as we have previously seen over in NXT due to the fact that they were not only winners of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic 2016, but they were also former NXT Tag Team Champions.

Akam and Rezar are more than capable of putting on fantastic matches, as we've seen during their bouts with The Revival and #DIY. Seeing AOP regain the titles wouldn't be a bad decision at all, as we could see them get the long title reign that they may need to establish themselves on Raw.

#4 Lucha House Party

The Lucha House Party consists of three members, as we have Kalisto, Gran Metalik, and Lince Dorado. It was a great decision to put the three masked luchadores in a stable together due to the fact that they weren't standing out as individuals. It was also a clever move from WWE in terms of merchandise, as there is a lot of potentials for people to buy masks.

We've seen before with The Lucha House Party rules match that WWE clearly had faith in them. The Lucha House Party Rules Match is basically a 3-on-2 Handicap Match that allows all three members to compete in one match together. However, it was a match that made the trio look more like heels instead of faces which is why it was banned from Raw, and they most likely won't ever turn heel either due to the fact that they are more marketable as faces than they are as the bad guys.

Having Metalik and Dorado defeat Gable and Roode for the titles would immediately give The Lucha House Party some momentum. It would allow us the opportunity to see a good chase for the title, due to Metalik and Dorado being great options to play the roles of underdogs.

There is no doubt that Lucha House Party would also be able to put on great matches with their luchadore high flying style, and it would also allow them to defend the titles under the Freebird rule with Kalisto, giving all three men something worthwhile to do in the Tag Team division.

#3 Bobby Lashley and Lio Rush

Despite the fact that Lio Rush is clearly just playing the role of Bobby Lashley's hype-man whilst competing on 205 Live as a singles competitor, there is so much potential in Lashley and Rush being used as a tag team. Lashley is currently embroiled in a rivalry with Rollins, but it's clearly a feud that is being used to make Rollins look stronger to build up to a major Wrestlemania match for The Kingslayer.

However, when the Rollins/Lashley rivalry is finished, Lashley and Rush would make great contenders to face Gable and Roode, and potentially be the ones to take the Raw Tag Team titles away from them. Rush was the main reason why Lashley had turned heel on the October 8th, 2018 episode of Raw as he had ordered Lashley to brutally attack Kevin Owens following their match.

Having Rush by Lashley's side is great, as Rush plays the role of the sneaky mouthpiece to cover up Lashley's weak mic skills. On the other hand, Lashley playing the aggressor of a potential tag team would be perfect. Both men complement each other's skills very well, and Rush knows how to rile the fans up to gain negative reactions allowing Lashley to let his actions do the talking.

A title win against Gable and Roode would allow Lashley and Rush to gain their first tag team titles in their WWE careers. It would immediately boost their statuses in the WWE, and it would give them an accomplishment that is needed to maintain their credibility. They would be fantastic foils for Gable and Roode with the possibility of the two teams having good matches.

#2 Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn

Owens and Zayn were competing as a tag team on both Raw and Smackdown, before injuries to both superstars had led to them being taken off WWE television. Despite the fact that Kevin Owens had turned face during his injury angle on October 8th, 2018 on Raw, WWE could easily reunite Owens with Zayn whether it's as faces or heels to implement them into the tag team division.

When the duo was regularly teaming up, it was a pairing that worked due to the fact that the two men are best friends in real life. It allowed us to see Zayn's personality that he desperately needed to establish himself in the WWE, and it also gave Owens something to do after having a personal rivalry with Shane McMahon.

The duo was rarely used in the tag team division as a whole, as they were mostly utilized to build up the main event scene, teaming up against the likes of Shinsuke Nakamura and AJ Styles whilst they were involved in a rivalry. Seeing Owens and Zayn mix it up with teams like Gable and Roode as well as AOP would be very interesting to watch as there are potential for good matches.

Most importantly, if the duo were to return as heels, then they would be the perfect team to instigate a potential heel turn for Bobby Roode. Owens and Zayn are Canadian superstars just like Roode is, and they could claim that Gable is holding Roode back from being truly glorious.

But even if they did return together as babyfaces, there would be no denying that the WWE Universe would love them as they are very popular superstars today in the wrestling world.

#1 The Revival

Finally, at #1 on the list, we have none other than The Revival. Without a shadow of a doubt, The Revival is the most undervalued team in the Raw Tag Team division today. The duo had dominated in NXT, as they proved time after time that they could put on fantastic matches. Dawson and Wilder had even won the 2016 NXT Match of the Year award for their exceptional Two out of Three Falls match against #DIY at NXT Takeover: Toronto.

But on Raw, WWE has yet to pull the trigger on the duo winning the Raw Tag Team Champions. They had debuted on April 3rd, 2017 episode of Raw with so much hype after they defeated The New Day. Fast forward to 2019, and that same hype isn't really there anymore.

However, despite the shocking booking of The Revival, they remain consistent in the ring as seen during the 7th January 2019 episode of Raw when we saw them go head to head with Chad Gable and Bobby Roode in a Lumberjack Match for the Raw Tag Team Champions. Both teams arguably put on the best match of their Raw careers as a tag team, despite the controversy at the end of the match when Dawson had his foot on the ropes.

They are currently embroiled in a rivalry with Roode and Gable, and there is no perfect time than to have The Revival finally come out on top with a Tag Team Championship win over the current champions.

Despite the fact that The Revival play heel characters, there would be no doubt that whatever arena they're competing in would go absolutely wild to see The Revival be crowned the WWE Raw Tag Team Champions for the very first time in their careers, as they definitely deserve this opportunity out of all the tag teams on Raw.
