#2. The Usos (5 SmackDown Tag Team Championship Reigns, 566+ days overall)

The Usos won their first SmackDown Tag Team Championship after beating American Alpha on the March 21, 2017, episode of SmackDown.

They held the championships for 123 days until The New Day defeated them at Battleground 2017. They would regain the gold 27 days later on the SummerSlam kickoff show.

The New Day beat them again on the September 12, 2017 episode of SmackDown in a Sin City Street Fight.

This would be another instant classic between the two teams, this time in front of an electric Las Vegas crowd. Kofi and Big E represented the team while Xavier Woods watched his New Day brothers backstage.

The champions dominated the match early on, attacking The New Day with chairs and even utilizing a kendo stick that Kofi Kingston would eventually retaliate with.

Kofi sent Jey through a table, allowing Big E to lift Jimmy Uso up for The Midnight Hour, winning the match and the SmackDown Tag Team Championship.

Jimmy and Jey beat their rivals to win back their championships at Hell in a Cell 2017 in a Hell in a Cell match. They held the titles until WrestleMania 34, 182 days later. They lost the championships to The Bludgeon Brothers.

Their fourth reign happened more than a year later, as Jimmy and Jey defeated The Miz and Shane McMahon in a match for the titles at Elimination Chamber 2019.

This was their second shortest reign to date, as they only held the championships for 51 days before losing them to The Hardy Boyz on April 9, 2019’s SmackDown.

The Samoan brothers would take a brief hiatus from winning tag team gold as their fifth and current reign occurred more than two years later at Money in the Bank 2021.

The Usos have aligned themselves with Roman Reigns to form The Bloodline since then and look to be as dominant as ever. Their current reign is the longest SmackDown Tag Team Championship reign in WWE history, at 187+ days.

#1. The New Day (7 SmackDown Tag Team Championship Reigns, 373 days overall)

At Battleground 2017, The New Day defeated The Usos to win the SmackDown Tag Team Championships for the first time. This would start a feud between the two teams that saw them exchange the titles between each other four times in the period between Battleground and Hell in a Cell.

The New Day reigned as champions twice in that time, holding the titles for 27 and 25 days, respectively.

They would then win the belts for the third time on the August 21, 2018 edition of SmackDown, as Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods defeated The Bludgeon Brothers in a No Disqualification tag team title match.

55 days later, Big E and Xavier Woods lost the championships to The Bar on SmackDown 1000.

They would not hold the titles again until Extreme Rules 2019 where they won a triple threat tag team match that involved Heavy Machinery and the champions Daniel Bryan and Rowan.

The Revival defeated them 62 days later at Clash of Champions in a match for the titles.

Big E and Kofi won back the championships from Dax and Wilder on the November 8 episode of SmackDown. This would be their fifth and longest reign to date as they held the championships for 110 days before losing them to The Miz and John Morrison at Super ShowDown in 2020.

The New Day won back the SmackDown Tag Team Championships from Miz and Morrison on the April 17, 2020 edition of SmackDown. This was a triple threat match that also featured The Usos.

A member from each team participated in the match, with Big E representing The New Day, Jey Uso fighting on behalf of the Usos and The Miz representing the champions. Big E would pin The Miz to win the match.

For The New Day’s seventh reign, Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods were split from Big E as a result of the 2020 Draft.

They had won the championships from Shinsuke Nakamura and Cesaro two days earlier on the October 9, 2020, episode of SmackDown.

The Raw Tag-Team Champions, The Street Profits were drafted to SmackDown, while The New Day was drafted to Raw. The two tag teams, therefore, switched championships.

This also means that Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods’ two-day reign is currently the shortest in the SmackDown Tag Team Championship’s history.
