If John Cena defeats Roman Reigns to become the new Universal Champion, WWE might be tempted to have some interesting new matchups for him. Assuming Reigns does not win back the title, we might see Cena drop the Universal Championship to a younger talent, putting him over.

The likes of Karrion Kross definitely comes to mind, who has even claimed that he is ready to retire John Cena. There have been rumors of him moving over to the main roster soon and he might be a great option to take the Universal title from Cena.

One of the biggest dream matches that is surely in plans right now is the one between Roman Reigns and The Rock. Recent rumors have suggested that The Brahma Bull could face The Tribal Chief as early as next year's WrestleMania 38. As interesting as the feud would be if it is for the Universal Championship, the result would be highly predictable with The Rock putting Reigns over.

However, if John Cena wins the Universal Championship from Roman Reigns, we might see the latter stay away from the title scene for a while. In that case, he could take on The Rock in a non-title match at WrestleMania 38, which would still be a big deal. Truth be told, The Rock vs. Roman Reigns is too big a feud in itself and doesn't really need to be for the Universal Championship.
