WWE revived Extreme Championship Wrestling as a third touring brand in 2006. A one-hour show on the Sci-Fi network, ECW was immediately panned by fans of the original product.

Kevin Thorn was one of the WWE original characters to debut on the ECW brand. Thorn was a gothic-style vampire character, accompanied by a similar female named Ariel.

One of the major storylines in the first twelve months saw four younger WWE Superstars, called The New Breed, feud with ECW Originals Sabu, Tommy Dreamer, The Sandman and Rob Van Dam.

The feud culminated with the ECW Originals defeating The New Breed in an eight-man Tag Team match at WWE WrestleMania 23. When asked if New Breed should have won the match, Thorn felt that the ECW Originals deserved their moment on the grand stage:

"No. I think that was the moment for those guys. Dreamer, Sandman, Sabu and RVD. You know, RVD's won plenty of WrestleManias it wasn't a big deal for him. But, I think for guys like Tommy, Sandman, Sabu, those guys, they gave their blood, sweat and tears to that. I mean technically Stevie Richards should have been in there, possibly Balls. I think everybody could have had a little bit more part of that match as far as The Originals go," said Thorn.

Kevin Thorn portrayed multiple characters during his WWE career. This included Mordecai, Kevin Thorn and the lesser known Seven.

When asked which character he was most comfortable playing, Thorn admitted that he felt comfortable playing all of the characters. However, he admits that the huge push he was set to receive as Mordecai may have come too early in his career:

"I was comfortable with both to be honest. It's just two different ways that I did stuff. When I was Seven in OVW and I was kind of gothic, vampire kind of stuff. Doing Mordecai, I grew up around religion, it was very easy for me to do. I was a lot younger as Mordecai, I think that played into some of it too. I think i was 26, getting told you're about to go against The Undertaker and possibly main eventing a WrestleMania match. I don't know if you have the business sense, you always say 'if I could have, would have, should have' back then. Now at 45, if i could have known what I know now and done it then, it would have been a totally different ball game," revealed Thorn.
