#3 Johnny Gargano and Candice LeRae defeat Damian Priest and Io Shirai on WWE NXT
Last week on WWE NXT, Candice LeRae outlasted the other women of NXT to win the Battle Royal to determine the #1 contender to the WWE NXT Women’s Championship. LeRae will compete against Io Shirai for the title at NXT TakeOver.
Johnny Gargano, who will challenge Damian Priest for the WWE NXT North American Championship, delivered a Superkick to the champion after his match against Austin Theory last week.
The four competitors got into a backstage brawl after the matches, and Priest and Shirai tried to deliver a message to their challengers. NXT has now booked a Mixed Tag Team Match between The Garganos, and Priest and Shirai for this week's NXT.
While the two Champions have done a good job on the Black and Gold brand, WWE must allow the two challengers to pull off heelish tactics and defeat the Champions in the tag team match to gain the upper hand before NXT TakeOver.
This will allow Johnny Wrestling and The Poison Pixie to gain some heat and momentum before their big matches and give the Champions a reason to watch their backs during the Championship matches at NXT TakeOver.
