One of the highlights of WWE Clash of Champions 2020 this past weekend was the main event match with Jey Uso and Roman Reigns. Sure, going into the match, everyone knew that Roman Reigns was going to obliterate Jey Uso, but the way that it played out with Roman Reigns showing his mean and vicious side was a truly gripping and frightening sight.
Usually, the thought of a rematch between the two men, where the outcome is so very clear would not grip anyone's fancy. However, the fact that Roman Reigns mentioned the highest of stakes for his upcoming fight with Jey Uso at Hell in a Cell, does make one wonder.
What could these stakes be, and what impact will it have in the whole Jey Uso and Roman Reigns relationship, one has to wonder.
#5 If Jey Uso loses the match to Roman Reigns, The Usos can never be a tag-team unit
Much has been made by Roman Reigns about the fact that Jey Uso and Jimmy Uso are two of the best tag team specialists in the modern era. Much has also been made of the fact that Roman Reigns loves Jey Uso even more than Jimmy Uso does. Is this a hint of the things to come, at Hell in a Cell 2020?
Jey Uso has embarked on a fantastic singles run of his own and Jimmy Uso could do the same when he is ready to return. So Roman Reigns could stipulate that if Jey Uso comes up short against him, The Usos must go their separate ways. And this could allow for them to be split across two brands to see who can potentially do better between the two.
It would certainly make things quite exciting.
#4 If Jey Uso loses to Roman Reigns, he has to join The Tribal Chief as his subject
What is a Tribal Chief without a tribe? When Roman Reigns and Jey Uso clash at WWE Hell in a Cell, the stipulation could be such that if Jey Uso comes up short, he will have to join Roman Reigns' alliance with Paul Heyman. And this could be the start of a Samoan Dynasty Stable, led by Roman Reigns and Paul Heyman. Jey Uso and eventually Jimmy Uso and maybe even Naomi may join the fold in due time.
And such a stable, if it is formed could go up against the likes of RETRIBUTION at Survivor Series, or even go up against The Hurt Business in due course of time. Yes, Roman Reigns and Paul Heyman is truly a formidable combination but one can make the argument and Jimmy and Jey Uso need Paul Heyman a lot more than Roman Reigns does, because he was already a made star even before he joined the wicked, malicious advocate.
#3 If Jey Uso loses to Roman Reigns, he has to leave WWE (or move to another brand)
Roman Reigns keeps stressing on the fact that SmackDown is his island and so if Jey Uso comes up short during the match (as he invariably will, because nobody is going to stop this version of Roman Reigns for a while), he will have to leave the company. Of course, the other version of this stipulation could be that if Roman Reigns defeats Jey Uso, then the latter has to go to NXT for a brief run.
Some of you may think that this is a demotion for The Usos, but it really is not, because they are a team that can hold their own against anyone, in almost any style, and can really mix it up with the tag teams on NXT, who could benefit from working with these veterans. Finn Balor is in NXT right now and Charlotte Flair was a part of it, for a brief duration, and so there's no harm done.
#2 If Jey Uso loses to Roman Reigns, he can never compete for a singles Championship ever again
Nobody expected Jey Uso to become the sensation that he has in the singles division, considering that he was a tag team performer, at best, until some time ago. But a program with Roman Reigns has done him wonders because Roman Reigns is the hottest performer in the industry at the moment. Moreover, Jey Uso is being given a major push right now, scoring a victory over AJ Styles.
And so, for the stakes to be higher than ever, Roman Reigns could stipulate that if Jey Uso comes up short against him at Hell in a Cell, he can never contest for singles gold ever again.
Yes, this storyline is a lot like what happened between MJF and Cody Rhodes on AEW Dynamite, but it's safe because WWE controls the narrative and whenever the time may be rife for Jey Uso to step into the WWE Universal Championship picture again, they may just do so by changing the storyline.
#1 The match can only end when either Roman Reigns or Jey Uso proclaims that the other is the Tribal Chief
Shoutout to Sportskeeda's editor Alan Jose John for this point. In his opinion, the highest of stakes could be symbolic, as Roman Reigns and Jey Uso contest in an 'I Quit' match inside/at Hell in a Cell, which only ends with one man saying that the other is indeed The Tribal Chief. Even though it doesn't seem like the stakes are very high for this example, look at how Roman Reigns and Jey Uso have built this storyline up, and how integral the position of a Tribal Chief, is to the entire tale. So yes, it is all too plausible that this match will end with Roman Reigns being proclaimed as the Tribal Chief by Jey Uso.
Whether or not you're a fan of this storyline, one has to admit that Roman Reigns and Jey Uso have made WWE SmackDown seem like the A-show, after years of playing second fiddle to RAW on Monday Nights.
