5 things that could happen on SmackDown Live next week

Kevin Owens beat Randy Orton on SD Live This Week

Another week of the Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens Show is in the books, and a number of interesting developments have taken place. Shane McMahon and Daniel Bryan are amicable but still disagree with each others’ principles, the Hype Bros are no more, the Riott Squad are running roughshod and the Bludgeon Brothers have the tag division on notice.

Zayn bent the rules and helped his best friend KO defeat Randy Orton in an excellent No Disqualification match and The New Day stifled the momentum of Chad Gable and Shelton Benjamin in a surprising development. Based on everything that happened this week, here are five things that you can expect to see next week on WWE’s Tuesday night offering.

#5 Shane McMahon and Daniel Bryan almost come to blows

The Two Men Who Run Tuesday Nights

If the rumours are to be believed, WWE might be slightly defrosting regarding the idea of allowing Daniel Bryan getting back into the ring to do what he loves. This is still highly unlikely, but the possibility today, according to reports, is higher than it was, say, two weeks ago. That doesn’t mean much, but with his current status as General Manager of SmackDown and being at odds with Commissioner Shane McMahon, it means that one day they could square off in the ring.

Whether that turns out to be the case or not, there is still much tension to be exploited. WWE teased physicality with Bryan when he was “chokeslammed” by Kane a few weeks ago on RAW, and a possible confrontation with Shane McMahon would be very interesting. After an argument regarding Bryan not being able to keep Sami Zayn from interfering in the Owens/Orton match, it gets very tense and both men will get in each others’ faces, ready to strike. Cooler heads will prevail, but for a fleeting moment it will look like the two men in charge of SD Live are about to butt heads, literally.

#4 Sarah Logan destroys a local talent in a singles match

The Riott Squad Are Dominant

In a continued effort to show the dominance of the new Riott Squad stable, WWE will put the powerhouse member of the team in a match on her own to show off her strength and dominance. It’s possible that Logan and Liv Morgan will be put together in a tag match, but I think they will give Logan her own match next week and Morgan will have hers the week after. It will be a bit of a slow burn to show their individual strengths on top of their obviously dominant team efforts.

Natalya will try to make friends with them and probably find herself on the wrong side of a beatdown as well, and Ruby will probably challenge Charlotte for the SmackDown Live Women’s Championship for December 17th’s Clash of Champions event.

#3 The Singh Brothers will be forced to grovel for forgiveness

The Singh Brothers Failed Jinder This Week

This week on SD Live, AJ Styles successfully rebuffed the attempt of the former Bollywood Boys to take him out leading up to his WWE Championship defence at Clash of Champions. Even though the Singhs and Jinder Mahal himself spent some time before the match giving AJ one heck of a beating, the WWE Champion finished the brothers off with a second rope Styles Clash, crashing one brother on top of the other.

When the three men from India were unable to corner Styles after the match to attack him one more time, the former WWE Champion resorted to taking out his frustrations on his minions, laying them both out with a vicious Khallas for each man. Next week on SmackDown Live, the Modern Day Maharajah will bring them to the ring and force them to kiss his boots and beg for forgiveness for once again failing him.

Even though Samir and Sunil are hated by the WWE fans, an act as disgusting as this will definitely garner some real disdain from the audience instead of just the usual anti-foreigner act, which is so, so tired and played out.

#2 The Fashion Files ends

Breezango May Never Solve the Mystery of "2B"

This week’s edition of The Fashion Files, entitled “Sawed”, featured a parody of the bathroom scene from the original SAW movie. During the scene, the men were given only one minute to get themselves out of their chains before being killed with poisoned gas. All they had to do was rip open the head of Fandango’s trusty stuffed horse, which The Ascension was happy to do. They got the key from inside the head and allowed Tyler Breeze and Fandango to escape while sacrificing themselves to the peril of the poison gas.

During the segment, the phrase “beating a dead horse” was uttered, making it clear that they are aware of the fact that the ongoing story is beginning to wear out its welcome and that it’s just about time to move on. With Konor and Viktor presumably dead, half of the foursome that makes up the Fashion Files have been killed off, and it appears that the mystery may be solved next week. The Bludgeon Brothers may indeed turn out to be “2B”, and it will turn out that the poison gas wasn’t actually murderous, but Harper and Rowan will be when they destroy The Ascension in a tag team contest.

While it’s not guaranteed that Harper and Rowan will be revealed as the mysterious men who have been making Breezango’s lives miserable, I do believe that the Fashion Files will end, even if they never solve the mystery.

#1 Kevin Owens helps Sami Zayn defeat Nakamura

Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn, Best Friends

Shinsuke Nakamura and Randy Orton have been loosely affiliated with one another for the past few months, and have been squaring off with Owens and Zayn since the former enemies became friends again. This week’s episode of SmackDown Live saw Randy Orton fall to Kevin Owens in a No DQ match after Zayn interfered, and I have a feeling that Zayn will be put into a match with Orton’s recent counterpart on next week’s episode.

In their continued quest to rule SmackDown Live, Owens and Zayn will surely find a way to continue their winning ways, and it will probably continue unhindered for quite a while as they build momentum against the perceived injustices against them. Nakamura hasn’t been featured on SDL in a while and it’s a shame that he’ll have to return to the ring with a loss, but he and Orton will gain their comeuppance soon enough.
