5 things that must happen at Fastlane 2018

The final PPV before WrestleMania

The final SmackDown before Fastlane is now over, but it did nothing to get us excited for the event.

WWE announced two more matches for the event which the fans don't seem to care about, as they will be overshadowed by the title matches at the event. The title matches didn't get any more hype added to them this past week either. WWE basically didn't help persuade the fans to watch the show.

The women had a generic segment while the US title picture didn't really involve Bobby Roode that much. He basically helped Mahal pick up the win. Lastly, minus Cena, WWE basically gave away Fastlane main event away for free, one week before the event.

That being said, here are five things WWE must do at Fastlane this Sunday, to ensure that the PPV is a success.

#5 Aiden English helps out Rusev

Make it a numbers game against Nakamura

WWE announced on SmackDown that Rusev will be facing Shinsuke Nakamura at the event. Nakamura should win the bout to help keep building momentum towards WrestleMania, but that doesn't mean Rusev should just job to him.

During the match, Aiden should somehow get involved. Either distracting the referee or Nakamura himself, as it will make The Artist deal with 'the numbers game' and help him look stronger.

Let's be honest, besides some decent matches with John Cena and an epic face off with AJ Styles at Money in the Bank last year, WWE has booked Nakamura pretty badly on the main roster. So, a strong showing over Rusev should be what happens at the event.

#4 Charlotte beats Ruby Riott easily

<p>
An easy win for the Queen!

Let's be honest, it’s obvious that Charlotte will be walking out with the title at Fastlane. Ruby Riott is not on Charlotte's level and it would be a bad move having Charlotte drop the title this close to WrestleMania.

Charlotte as a baby face hasn't been working lately, so having her treat Ruby like she's nothing, will help Charlotte in the match, possibly hinting at a heel turn. But that doesn't look like it will happen anytime soon.

The rest of the Riott squad will most likely get involved as usual and get thrown out by the ref at some point. That will make Charlotte's victory a lot easier for her.

#3 Jinder Mahal challenges the winner of the US Title match

WWE should set up a singles or a triple threat match that includes Jinder Mahal

Bobby Roode will be facing Randy Orton at the PPV, but Jinder Mahal has also been a major part of this feud. So, instead of ignoring Mahal, WWE can have him challenge the winner.

Roode should win to make him look stronger (preferably via DQ or no contest, so that Randy Orton can challenge him again) and no one really wants to see Orton and Mahal feud again, so, a triple threat match at WrestleMania will be a good option. Yes, it will be the exact same thing Raw is doing with the Intercontinental Title match, but I think a three way match would be a good watch.

WWE should do this to include the Modern day Maharaja in the WrestleMania card, because it does not bode well to see a former WWE Champion end up either in the Andre the Giant battle royal again or being absent from the show altogether.

#2 The Usos retain their titles

The Usos should finally get their WrestleMania moment

The Usos will be facing the New Day once again this Sunday. WWE decided to book this match again, after a long feud between the same two teams last year, instead of giving the match to someone new.

Instead, the Bludgeon Brothers could've been in the match. The two beating up jobbers every week is getting old. They will probably end up facing the winners of the match on Sunday and that should be The Usos.

The main reason the Usos should win is to hopefully, get a match on the main show at WrestleMania. Every year since the team has debuted, every WrestleMania match they have had has been on the pre-show. They truly deserve to be on the main show.

If WWE decides to have the Usos vs Harper and Rowan at 'Mania, it might not be a bad thing. Their match way back at Battleground 2014 was a good one and I'm sure they can do it again, but even better this time

#1 AJ Styles retains the WWE Championship

The title must stay with AJ Styles

The six pack challenge is probably the main reason people will be tuning into the PPV. The winner of that match should obviously be AJ Styles. He should win by pinning John Cena, as it makes sense since Cena beat Styles to get into the match. A pin on Cena will help Styles regain any momentum that he lost with his loss on SmackDown Live.

After the match, Shinsuke should come down to have a stare off with Styles, to have a great visual to end the show.

Besides that, the match should really hint at or even directly have Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn split up, so it can set up their match at WrestleMania.

WWE should really treat this as an actual PPV instead of a house show and ensure that it is a good watch!
