5 things that the WWE Universe wants in 2018

Will we see this once again next year?
Will we see this once again next year?

We are approaching the end of another eventful year in professional wrestling and 2017 was packed with brilliant moments. We saw Goldberg hold a WWE title after thirteen years, The Undertaker presumably wrestled his last ever match and John Cena officially "passed the torch" to Roman Reigns.

WWE is in a great place right now, a great roster filled with exceptional (or in some cases phenomenal) champions. This will only make 2018 even more intriguing.

We look at five things that must happen in WWE the coming calendar year.

#5 Batista returns

The Animal wants to come back and he should !
The Animal wants to come back and he should!

Batista has not kept his love for professional wrestling a secret, and in recent times has expressed a desire to return to the squared circle. He wants to return to the ring full-time, and not be a part-timer like Brock Lesnar, Goldberg or John Cena.

The former four-time tag team champion (he won it twice with Ric Flair, once with Cena and once with Rey Mysterio)ta was one of the biggest stars in WWE in the mid-2000s, playing his role to perfection. He could not become the biggest face in WWE due to John Cena holding the spot during that time. However, he was a household name who has now succeeded in gaining a prominent Hollywood career.

Batista facing the likes of Roman Reigns, Braun Strowman, Brock Lesnar, amongst others, will be a dream come true for many fans.

#4 Daniel Bryan wrestles once again

We need him back!
We need him back!

Daniel Bryan was one of the most popular Superstar not more than two years ago. Fans were ready to boo every person on the roster in favour of the American Dragon. However, several injuries and concussions forced the YES Movement leader to retire at the age of 35.

However, Bryan has explicitly stated that he wants to wrestle once again, and has already laid out a challenge to Cody Rhodes. ryan's return to the ring is being teased heavily since 2016. Initially, his rivalry with The Miz led many to believe that he'll return to face his former mentor, and now tensions are rising between him and Shane McMahon.

Daniel Bryan returning to the ring to face the likes of Styles, Zayn, and Owens will be a treat to watch!

#3 John Cena eclipses Ric Flair's record

John Cena is one of the greatest Superstars to grace a WWE ring, whether you like him or not. He has left his mark on WWE and held his own in the promotion over the last fifteen years. He has already transitioned into a part-time role. His feud and subsequent defeat against Roman Reigns led many to believe that his WWE career may well be over.

However, Cena is a WWE guy through and through, and has already returned twice for special appearances. He still has a lot of gas left in his tank, and could return for a full-fledged run soon.

Cena's greatness will be fully established once he passes Ric Flair for the most world titles record, and this historic moment must happen next year!

#2 The Shield breaks up once again

The Hounds of Justice need to split up soon
The Hounds of Justice need to split up soon

Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose returned as one unit this year. While the buildup to this moment was brilliantly planned, the execution left a lot to be desired. Lack of quality factions on the main roster meant that they had to face the same group over and over again.

Injury to Dean Ambrose and Reigns falling sick before their comeback match was a huge deterrent to this reunion run. Many have already likened this run to the DX's reunion back in 2006, a complete merch-selling venture.

We have already seen Seth Rollins turning his back on his brothers before, could Reigns or Ambrose turn heel this time around? Both the Superstars have never been heels in their singles career and a change in the scheme of things will definitely be interesting.

#1 Braun Strowman becomes the World Champion

The day it all started.
The day it all started.

A person who wasn't even a professional wrestler three years ago, winning the top-most championship in the biggest wrestling company in the world? Unimaginable? Not quite. Braun Strowman's had one hell of a year in the WWE, becoming one of the biggest stars in the company.

Strowman started the year as the top heel on the RAW roster and ended 2017 as the top babyface in WWE! He has achieved immense success due to his natural charisma and tremendous looks, with the added bonus of delivering quality matches.

Braun Strowman needs to win the big one soon enough and 2018 better be the year we see Strowman making WWE his YARD!
