5 Things The Rock could do during SmackDown's FOX premiere

The Great One is back!
The Great One is back!

The Rock is returning to WWE this week for SmackDown’s debut at FOX. This is going to be a huge episode, both for the company and the fans.

We are pretty sure that the company has planned something big for the former WWE Champion, but what it could be? He is going to return to WWE after three and a half years as his last televised appearance happened in 2016 during WrestleMania 32.

Other than The Rock, many legendary Superstars are also going to return for this episode. The possibilities are endless and considering the 47-year old wrestler-turned-actor was once an integral part of SmackDown, he’ll most likely do something incredible at the show.

So here are 5 things The People’s Champ could do during the upcoming episode of SmackDown.

#5 Crashes Elias’ musical performance

Elias

Elias’ WWE career has been a mixture of insulting current Superstars… and the ones that once used to work in this company. He hasn’t been involved in any major storyline of his own yet, but despite this, WWE has booked the former NXT Superstar in various segments with the likes of John Cena and The Undertaker.

Whenever a huge name appears on WWE television, we could find Elias, somehow, being in the segment. This time, Elias took a shot at The Rock, indicating a possible segment between the two at SmackDown.

At WrestleMania 34, Elias had a segment with Cena, which later led to him getting beaten up by the 16-time World Champion. Then, he insulted The Undertaker in 2019 and the future Hall of Famer made a surprise return to attack him.

Well, Elias has been insulting The Rock for a long time now, and there's a possibility of a confrontation between these two Superstars.

This may not be true this time and that is assuming The Rock’s appearance will be a one-off program. However, we can still see these two Superstars together in the ring. Perhaps, The Brahma Bull could return during Elias’ musical performance on SmackDown and “shut his mouth” with a Rockbottom.

#4 Interaction with The Fiend?

The Fiend, Bray Wyatt is going to face Seth Rollins for the Universal Championship at Hell in a Cell. The odds are in favour of The Fiend of winning the title. This will be one of the greatest moments of his career since winning the WWE Championship. However, there is also a possibility of him taking down The Rock at SmackDown’s FOX debut.

The Rock can’t wrestle in the ring due to his duties in Hollywood but this can prove to be a great thing for The Fiend. He has already attacked a few legends and since The People’s Champ will be the biggest returnee, it’s possible that Wyatt could try to attack him.

#3 Confront Becky Lynch and try to put her over

Sportskeeda's own Tom Colohue reported that The Rock wants to share ring with The Man, Becky Lynch. Lynch has got a match booked at Hell in a Cell and it's possible that if he wants to confront the current RAW Women's Champion, he'll do so. Because Lynch's a face now, we can't expect her to disrespect The Rock, but the latter could do so to Sasha Banks.

It'll be interesting to see if we'll ever see these two Superstars in the same ring. And even if we do, then what actually will happen.

#2 A segment with Roman Reigns

Fans have been asking for The Rock vs Roman Reigns for years now. However, as we previously said, The Rock couldn’t wrestle due to his busy schedule.

His return to SmackDown, by no means, guarantees that he’ll come to confront Reigns and challenge him for a match (although it's possible). However, there’s a possibility that The Rock can have a segment with his cousin brother, Roman Reigns.

The Big Dog is currently feuding with Erick Rowan and Luke Harper. If you know, The Rock’s last match happened against Rowan, and their rivalry never ended. Assuming Reigns (and Daniel Bryan) will confront Rowan and Harper during SmackDown, an attack on them seems likely. Enter The Rock. He could come to Reigns’ aid and save the day for him and the WWE Universe.

#1 The Rock calls CM Punk

Next SmackDown is going to happen at the Staples Center and fans know what happened last time The Rock was here. It was a dark segment, where The Rock had come to promote Paige’s biography, Fighting with my Family. He then called CM Punk as a way to entertain the crowd but the Straight Edge Superstar didn’t pick it.

The Straight Edge Superstar recently spoke to KROQ and he said this:

“I enjoy The Rock, I do. And I’m not trying to put this out… gee, hopefully, people don’t do this, but do you remember the last time The Rock was in the Staples Center?”
“Let’s do it again. When is this show, next Friday? Dwayne, call me Friday.”

Punk is asking The Rock to call him this Friday and while we know that this probably won’t happen in WWE, there’s a chance.

He reportedly gave an audition for WWE’s upcoming show, WWE Backstage, and he’s likely to get an offer from the company. If this rumor is true, then WWE shouldn’t have any major problems with The Rock giving a call to CM Punk on October 4th.
