The Royal Rumble is the next event in the chronology of WWE, and it is set to take place on January 27, 2019.

Being one of the biggest events each year, it is also one of the most rewarding events, as it gives both the men and women a chance to earn a shot at a top championship of their choice.

This year 30 men and 30 women will battle it out in their respective Royal Rumble matches to earn a chance to challenge the top champion of either Raw or SmackDown.

While the Royal Rumble match is one of the most fun and interesting matches of the year, it is also full of surprises.

Keeping that in mind, this year we are expecting a few surprises in both matches, making the PPV memorable and fun to watch.

We have come up with a list 5 things that must happen at the Royal Rumble matches, making a few superstars bigger, a few spots more interesting, and starting a few rivalries.

#5 Tamina betrays Nia Jax

This partnership should turn into a rivalry soon
This partnership should turn into a rivalry soon

Tamina and Nia Jax have been running an alliance for a while now, but nothing fruitful has come out of the same.

Tamina has played sidekick to Nia Jax more often than not, and has also assisted her in trying to win different matches, including the Raw Women’s Championship.

Apart from that, the two women have competed in a few meaningless tag team matches, and if the duo are not going to go ahead as competitors for the women’s tag team championship, then there seems to be no reason why they should stay together any longer.

Both women are strong forces, and should be competing against each other to gain dominance over the Raw women’s locker room. To do so, Tamina must turn on Nia Jax and eliminate her from the women’s Royal Rumble match.

This is a good opportunity for the creative to have an angle where the two women turn bitter against each other, convincingly eliminating Nia Jax from the match.

#4 R-Truth loses his spot

R-Truth was the first man to enter the Royal Rumble after winning the Mixed Match Challenge with Carmella at TLC last year.

Not only has that confirmed his place in the Royal Rumble for 2019, but has also won him the #30 spot in the match, which is known to be the most prestigious spot.

WWE has always kept the final entrant of the match a secret, and giving it away so soon does not make much sense, especially to a man who is usually used as a jobber, and will probably not go on to win the Royal Rumble match.

Giving him the spot could mean that WWE is planning a twist, and will award the spot to someone else instead.

This can be done by having someone like Lars Sullivan or EC3 attack R-Truth, and take his final spot in the Royal Rumble. If both men are already entering the rumble, a returning superstar like Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn, or Bray Wyatt could do the honours.

#3 Drew McIntyre scores the most eliminations

Drew McIntyre has been on a path of destruction since his return on Raw last year. He dismantled every other superstar and took out some of the biggest names in WWE to cement himself as the top villain on Raw.

McIntyre is sure to walk into the Royal Rumble match as one of the favourites, and could very well go on to win the match. However, he has way too many enemies because of the things he has done to most of the faces on Raw, and that could cause obstacles to his main aim.

Regardless of whether he wins the match or not, McIntyre should eliminate the most number of men in the match, and last a long time to ensure that fans are sold the fact that he is the new monster in the WWE.

With the absence of men like Kane, Mark Henry, Roman Reigns, and Brock Lesnar in the match, McIntyre is the best man to do the job and earn himself another title going forward towards a successful career.

#2 Carmella loses her spot

Carmella too has won the #30 spot in the women’s Royal Rumble match after she won the Mixed Match Challenge alongside R-Truth.

The women’s Royal Rumble match headlined the event last year, and could do same this year, which will be another jewel in the crown of the women’s roster of WWE.

If R-Truth loses his spot in the men’s Royal Rumble match, then Carmella should lose her spot too to decrease the predictability of the prestigious match, and give fans another surprise.

However, Carmella should not lose the spot to an existing female wrestler in the WWE. She should lose the spot to R-Truth himself, who steals her spot after being denied his chance in the men’s match.

R-Truth has hinted earlier that he would like a chance at the Women’s Championship on SmackDown, and this could provide the WWE Universe some humour and some unpredictability.

#1 AJ Styles enters the Royal Rumble

The Phenomenal One!

AJ Styles is set to take on Daniel Bryan for the WWE Championship at the Royal Rumble. AJ Styles held the championship for an extended period of time before he lost it to Daniel Bryan.

While Styles isn’t announced as a participant for the Royal Rumble since he already has a title match for the night, it would be interesting to see him enter the match if he loses the championship bout to Daniel Bryan.

This is because he is one of the biggest names from SmackDown, and he should become a part of the match since he hasn't done so since 2016.

Known as one of the main faces of WWE, taking part in the Royal Rumble match will definitely increase the excitement of the WWE Universe.

While those who have top championship matches at the Rumble usually do not enter the match, Styles could be an exception, and could also be part of the last four in the match, which will surely make it an interesting affair.
