Even though the feel-good win for Chad Gable was what the fans wanted, the sentimental favorite of King of the Ring didn't really stand a chance. It was a great story that was told and Gable had a fantastic run leading up to the final.
Unfortunately for him, the one-foot size difference proved to be a little too much as Corbin hit him with The End of Days to cement his place as WWE's King of The Ring. All said and done, it wasn't that bad a decision and the match didn't go over as badly as expected.
For once, Chad Gable looked really good in defeat. Secondly, WWE has been historically known to have heels win the King of the Ring tournament. It's hard to blame them in this case because it's easy for heels to brag about it and show off the King's attire as a part of their character.
Babyfaces can't implement it into their characters as easily without coming across as brash or arrogant, so perhaps it simply is just a heel's tournament. Regardless, Baron Corbin has been finding his stride lately and don't be surprised if you see him get a big push.
