The Clash of Champions PPV was held last Sunday at TD Garden, Boston, Massachusetts. Notably, it was the last PPV of the year for WWE. The following are a few points from the last two matches on the show, which an avid WWE fan won’t want to miss.

#1 Orton missed the punch, but Owens played along

The
The "Viper" missed his punch.

In the second last match of the night, Randy Orton and Shinsuke Nakamura faced Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn to ensure the latter two gets fired from all of the WWE. Both Shane McMahon and Daniel Bryan were referees in this high-stakes match.

In the fifth minute of this match, Randy Orton punched Kevin Owens on his face and covered him for a pinfall. However, the punch actually didn’t touch Kevin Owens at all.

Owens maintained the kayfabe and took a fall in order to cover up this botch.

#2 Bryan rightfully counted Nakamura during the Triangle submission

During the match, Nakamura locked Owens in a Triangle submission hold. Shane McMahon was eagerly waiting for Owens to submit.

However, the vigilant Daniel Bryan began the pinfall count as he realized that Nakamura’s both shoulders were touching the mat. This caused an argument between both the officials.

Notably, the rules suggest that a wrestler could be counted down to the mat for a pinfall, given both his shoulders touch the mat.

This has also once cost Shawn Michaels the World Heavyweight Championship when both his and Triple H’s (c) shoulders were counted to the mat. Eric Bischoff declared the match as a draw and Triple H retained his Championship.

#3 Would we see Daniel Bryan vs. Shane McMahon at WrestleMania 34?

We are speculating that WrestleMania would feature the match we all want to see, Daniel Bryan vs. Shane McMahon. The last PPV of this year has only strengthened this possibility.

The differences between these two policy-makers of Tuesday nights are quite visible now, and WrestleMania 34 would be an ideal place to settle all of their issues.

Fans are eager to see what would transpire when these two confront in the ring this Tuesday night on SmackDown Live.

#4 A longer than usual count for pinfall

In the closing match of the night, AJ Styles defended his WWE Championship match against Jinder Mahal. AJ Styles won the match after Jinder Mahal submitted to the Calf Crusher.

During the twenty-second minute of the match, Jinder delivered a perfect Khallas to Styles and covered him for a pinfall. Styles was able to kick out, but the referee’s count of three appeared a bit longer than the usual.

#5 Shades of WrestleMania 28

Mahal was seen mocking AJ Styles.

At the closing moments of the match, Jinder Mahal mocked AJ Styles as Mahal teased for Styles’ finishing move (Styles Clash). Mahal was booed by the people in attendance as he desired to win the match using Styles’ finishing move.

This reminded us of WrestleMania 28. During the closing moments of the main event at WrestleMania 28, John Cena mocked the Rock by teasing Rock’s finishing move (People’s Elbow).

Interestingly, both Jinder Mahal and John Cena realized the same fate. Both were unable to pull out their opponent’s move, and this gimmick cost them their match.
