John Morrison is fairly well-known to the WWE Universe, having been part of the company for a number of years between 2004 and 2011. Morrison is a former Tag Team Champion as part of MNM alongside Joey Mercury and Melina and a former three-time Intercontinental Champion.

Morrison also had a short run as ECW Champion during WWE's revival of the old extreme product, but it was a revival that quickly burnt out.

Given the fact that it's been made official that John Morrison has re-signed with the WWE on a multi-year deal and that there are many fans who haven't followed his career over the past seven years, here are some interesting facts about the former WWE star.

John Morrison was part of WWE for more than seven years, so when he left the company back in 2011, he remained friends with a number of WWE stars. There are a long list of wrestlers including Randy Orton, Zack Ryder, Jeff Hardy, Dolph Ziggler and The Miz who remained close to Morrison.

The former Champion's long-term friendship with current WWE star The Miz meant that he was able to appear in a number of episodes of Miz & Mrs throughout the first season of the show, despite not being contracted to WWE at the time.

It was throughout these appearances that speculation began that Morrison was going to return to WWE since it was clear that he was on good teams with the promotion. It was reported by PWInsider that Morrison actually re-signed with WWE back in September, but it's only recently that it has finally been officially announced by the company that he has returned.

John Morrison had an interesting route into WWE since he was part of Tough Enough back in 2002. A show that he went on to win, which helped him to push forward into a wrestling career. Morrison wasn't a star who had indy experience before he came to WWE since he had attended University of California, Davis and only graduated a few months prior to his appearance on Tough Enough with a major in Film.

Morrison also studied Geology at University but decided that he didn't want to pursue a career in either subject, so he began training to be a professional wrestler at the Supreme Pro Wrestling school in Sacramento, California.

Morrison then applied for Tough Enough II but was unsuccessful in his audition, so applied again the following year, where he was finally accepted. He and Matt Cappotelli were the co-winners of the competition and both earned WWF contracts as a result of the win.

Morrison was later sent to OVW to begin his training before being promoted to the main roster the following year as part of MNM with Joey Mercury and Melina Perez.

John Morrison studied Film whilst he was at University, but then decided to pursue a career in wrestling instead. Following his release from WWE back in 2011, Morrison decided to pursue acting as a career so that he could work on improving his promo skills.

Morrison then went on to appear in a number of films and TV series whilst also wrestling for promotions like Impact and Lucha Underground.

In 2012 Morrison appeared in Legend of the Black as a Shadow Creature, before then appearing as Razor in 20 Feet Below: The Darkness Descending. In 2014 he was in Ascent to Hell and Hercules Reborn.

He was also a noticeable addition to the first season of Netflix show GLOW when he appeared in the pilot episode as Salty Johnson who first put the women of the show through their paces in the ring.

In recent years, Morrison has had guest appearances on Baby Daddy, Shameless, Days of our Lives, The Last Ship, The Guest Book, Miz & Mrs and even Being The Elite. He also starred in seven WWE video games from SmackDown vs RAW 2007 to WWE '12.

There have been some interesting jokes circulating about John Morrison when it comes to his name when he makes his WWE return since he has been known under some interesting ring names over the years.

Morrison started his career under his real name of John Hennigan before this was then changed to Johnny Blaze, this name didn't last long before WWE decided it could be changed to Johnny Spade and then Johnny Nitro ahead of his WWE debut.

Vince McMahon then decided to change his name to John Morrison since his name reminded him too much of WCW. This was a name that lasted until he left WWE and became Johnny Mundo in Lucha Underground.

In 2017 when he signed with Impact Wrestling, he became Johnny Impact, throughout the course of his career he has also been known as Johnny Blackcraft, Johnny Superstar, Johnny Onyx and Johnny Ultra so it will be interesting to see if WWE decides to give him a new name upon his return or revert back to the already known John Morrison ring name.

John Morrison met former WWE star Melina when the two stars were part of Tough Enough back in 2002. Melina was eliminated from the show whilst Morrison won, but the duo still struck up a friendship and later began dating before WWE allowed them to work together in tag team MNM.

The couple then had an on-off relationship until 2015 when it was revealed that the couple had finally gone their separate ways officially, even though they had split up many times before. Morrison then began dating fellow Lucha Underground and Impact Wrestling star Taya Valkyrie.

The couple announced their engagement in June 2017, before officially tying the knot a year later in June 2018. Many of Morrisons' close WWE friends attended the wedding, including The Miz and Dolph Ziggler.

Whilst John Morrison has now officially returned to WWE, his wife remains part of the Impact Wrestling roster in his absence. It's unlikely that she will follow him over to WWE, but a number of couples have been able to call WWE their home in recent years, so never say never.
