At the 2002 Royal Rumble PPV, both men faced each other in a Street Fight, with Flair emerging victorious. The rivalry continued way past WrestleMania 18, and a No Holds Barred match was set for the June 10, 2002 episode of WWE RAW.
The stipulation of the match stated that the winner would become the sole owner of WWE. The ending of the contest saw Brock Lesnar interfering and attacking Flair. This was enough for Vince McMahon to pin the 16-time World Champion and become the sole owner of WWE again.
Flair would go on to become an active wrestler on WWE's main roster. He turned heel months later and formed the Evolution faction with Triple H. McMahon's on-screen appearances became a rare occurrence for the next few months. He began a feud with Hulk Hogan on the Road to WrestleMania 19.

He would book Roman Reigns to re-form The Bloodline with The Usos and Sami Zayn upon his comeback. The angle would see The Tribal Chief-led group go head-to-head with The Rock, Solo Sikoa, Tama Tonga, and Jacob Fatu in a blockbuster family feud.
