In WWE or in any other sports entertainment, announcers and commentators play a crucial role in defining the circumstances that revolve around any match, situation or events that might be difficult to interpret for the audiences on their own. Their voice is of vital importance as without them the thrill and excitement, die down, and the audience does not feel glued to stick to that particular game. In short, they are like the salt to the food to make it more edible and creates more impact to the thrill, excitement and thus stimulates more emotion.

However, in WWE time and again the commentators, cameraman, ring announcers and several other technicians have been at the receiving end of wrath from the wrestlers. Sometimes these attacks are a part of the story-lines, sometimes accidentally and many a time out of rage or due to various personal or backstage reasons. In most cases, the wrestlers showcased supremacy, but in a couple of incidents, the commentators fought back too.

Let us have a glimpse at five such incidents where the commentators on WWE received a beat down from the wrestlers.

CM Punk has a reputation for insulting the commentators. Be it a verbal abuse or physical thrashing, he has embarked on all of that. He has disrespected Jim Ross, Jerry Lawler and several other non-wrestlers associated with the WWE. One such case was when in 2012 he called Jerry inside the ring and attacked him.

On the August 20th episode of Monday night RAW in 2012, John Cena and CM Punk were having a verbal trading as a part of the story-line for a WWE Championship match between the duo. Despite Punk's repeated insistence, Cena refused to acknowledge CM Punk as 'the best in the world'. Once John Cena left, Punk called Jerry inside the ring. Jerry was asked to apologise and call CM Punk the best. Jerry did apologize but refused to call Punk as the best. While Jerry was leaving, he pushed Punk and this infuriated Punk. Punk immediately delivered a kick to the back of his head (6 min, 35 seconds).

This was followed next week by a steel cage match between both of them. Punk went on to win the match and afterwards again attacked Lawler till Cena came to his rescue.

Be it Stone Cold, Rock, John Cena and many others, all of them have unleashed their fury upon Michael Cole. Out of so many cases, one such incident was when the Rock on his birthday, knocked Michael Cole out inside the ring.

On 2nd May 2011, the Rock appeared on RAW to celebrate his birthday with the WWE universe. He was interrupted when Michael Cole stood up to read an e-mail from the anonymous general manager of RAW. This annoyed the Rock and he called Cole inside the ring to read the e-mail. Cole entered the ring and demanded an apology from Rock. Rock apologised and then delivered a rock-bottom to Michael Cole (10 min), followed by a people's elbow.

It was in 2009, that Sheamus debuted in the RAW brand of the WWE. He created a villainous impression by defeating Jamie Noble. The following weeks he repeatedly assaulted Noble, causing Noble to retire. On 16th of November on Monday night's episode of RAW, Sheamus issued an open challenge in the locker room for any wrestler to face him. However, no wrestler responded to his challenge and this caused Sheamus furious.

Sheamus took out his wrath by attacking the timekeeper brutally. It was then Jerry decided to step up and prevent him from causing further damage to the already injured man. But Sheamus, on the Contrary, delivered a jaw wrecking Brogue kick to Lawler (1 min, 50 seconds) and almost knocked the senses out of him. Both the timekeeper and Jerry were escorted by medical attendants and were taken out of the arena. Such was the impact of his beating.

In 2008, Kane faced the 'animal' Batista in a losing effort to qualify as the number one contender for CM Punk's World Heavyweight Championship at 'The Great American Bash'. After the match, Kane lost his cool and attacked anyone and anything in his nearby vicinity. At first, he laid his hands on the timekeeper and the cameraman. Afterwards, he attacked both the commentators Michael Cole and Jerry Lawler (2 min, 15 seconds)

Kane was about to deliver a choke-slam upon Cole but Jerry prevented him from doing so by hitting on his knees. This angered Kane even more and he started beating Jerry. He continued doing so, till Jerry was unable to move and Kane was content with his rage. He then left Jerry in a vulnerable state and left the ring.

Brock Lesnar was fighting Roman Reigns for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 31 when Seth Rollins cashed in his 'Money in the Bank' match contract and won the match as well as the Championship. The following night on RAW, Brock claimed his rematch clause for the title to which Seth Rollins refused. This enraged Lesnar and he tried to attack Rollins. Rollins somehow managed to escape from the arena.

Brock then attacked the technicians and tossed their bodies around. He then preyed upon Michael Cole (1 min 54 seconds) and delivered a vicious F5 upon him. But he was in no mood to stop, as he then targeted the cameraman. It was then Stephanie McMahon rushed to the spot and repeatedly asked Lesnar to stop in a futile effort as Lesnar kept on delivering his signature move F5 to the cameraman.

Michael Cole filed a lawsuit against Lesnar, but both of them settled with an apology from Lesnar in front of the WWE Universe.
