Roman Reigns was scheduled to face Goldberg for the Universal Championship at WrestleMania 36 back in April, and even though it was well-known that Reigns was set to win back the Championship, The Big Dog dropped out of the show.

Reigns was forced to shield himself and his family when it was revealed that the country was going into lockdown since the COVID-19 pandemic was spreading much faster than expected.

WrestleMania was moved to the Performance Center and Reigns was then replaced by Braun Strowman, who went on to become Universal Champion.

Reigns hasn't been seen in a WWE ring since March when lockdown was announced. With his wife giving birth to twins earlier in the year and his recent battle with leukemia, Reigns was considered high risk.

WWE hoped that Reigns would return at SummerSlam, but the show was recently moved to WWE's Performance Center after the company's recent issues with COVID-19.

Reigns spoke to Hindu's Metroplus back in June where he was able to shed light on his recent WWE hiatus.

"For me, I just had to make a choice for my family. [WWE] has done everything that they can to make it the safest work environment possible. It is not the workplace that I was necessarily concerned about. The decision was taken mainly because each performer travels so much, and we are all such a diverse group and from all over the place. I'm not convinced, and I can't trust the fact that everybody is taking it as seriously and locking themselves down at home like I am."

Reigns may be the most high profile star sitting out of WWE at present but he isn't the only star since Sami Zayn has also opted to remain at home.
