5 Twists that can happen at NXT Takeover: Toronto

Shinsuke Nakamura will headline the event

The night before Survivor Series, NXT will take over in Toronto in what should be an exciting card.

NXT has been producing quality PPV’s since the inception of the ‘Takeover’ event. This one will be no different. There will be returns and new beginnings happening for our NXT stars and we are, perhaps, in for some shockers on Saturday night.

The Authors of Pain are strong contenders to win the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic at NXT TakeOver. The young tag team has been on a dominant run since their debut. Not only do they have brute strength but the expertise that they have on board with Hall of Fame manager Paul Ellering has served them tremendously well.

TM161 have been the sleeper team, making it to the finals to face Authors of Pain.

Bobby Roode looks to keep his NXT tenure glorious as he takes on Tye Dillinger in a one on one bout. Championships will also be decided at Takeover, with a big rematch for the NXT Championship as well as a returning Mickie James challenging the undefeated Asuka for the NXT Women’s Championship. Toronto is definitely in for a great weekend.

Everyone involved on the card will be looking to make a statement, and it will continue to prove why NXT is on top of its’ game.

And with that, there are bound to be some twists that will happen on Saturday night. Here are five that can happen at Takeover.

#1 Revival upset

It is Gargano and Ciampa’s time

The team of Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa, better known as #DIY, will take on the two-time NXT tag team Champions The Revival.

This stemmed from their cancelled match a few weeks back for the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic. The Revival bowed out of the match due to injury, only to attack #DIY later, thereby costing them their chance to advance to the finals.

#DIY are perhaps one of the most over talents on NXT right now. Why not put the Championships on them? The Revival’s dominance on NXT might be coming to a halt courtesy of the talented duo. If #DIY don’t capture the Championships, it will likely be due to The Revival pulling cheat tactics.

#2 Asuka is unstoppable

No one can stop the Empress of Tomorrow

I just do not see James winning the NXT Women’s Championship Saturday night. If anything, her defeat to Asuka will further prove just how unstoppable the Women’s Champion is. James will no doubt give her a good fight. Asuka wants to be challenged and James can most certainly provide that.

One thing I picked up on was a line that the commentators said about Ember Moon looking to make an impact at Takeover. While she is booked in a six man tag match, will she make her intentions known to the Empress of Tomorrow?

If anyone in NXT can stop Asuka, it’s Ember Moon, and she has a pretty good shot at it.

#3 Samoa Joe recaptures the NXT Championship

The main event will be an intense fight

This feud hit the fever pitch recently and this will be ‘the’ battle to watch out for on Saturday night.

Both men despise each other and will stop at nothing when it comes to the NXT Championship. While it is evident that Samoa Joe is a beast in the ring, fans shouldn’t underestimate Shinsuke Nakamura. He did win the Championship from Samoa Joe in the first place.

Nakamura has to stay on his toes if he wants to keep the NXT Championship around his waist. However, Samoa Joe has other plans and he could very well be the first man to hold the NXT Championship twice.

The rumours of Samoa Joe being on his way to the main roster will perhaps have to persist a little while longer if this happens.

#4 The third partner

Billie Kay and Peyton Royce have dominated Liv Morgan as of late

It was just made official that there will be a six man tag team match with Aliyah, Ember Moon and Liv Morgan taking on the NXT mean girls Billie Kay, Peyton Royce and a partner of their choosing.

With the Women’s Division still on the mend, there aren’t many women to choose from. Nikki Cross is an unlikely partner with her role in SAnitY. However, there is a chance it could be Tough Enough alumnus Mandy Rose.

Rose would certainly fit in with Kay and Royce in terms of being beautiful and having the attitude to go with it. But if it isn’t Rose, then who could it be? Someone could debut for NXT, but that seems highly unlikely as well. So for now, my bet is on Rose to fill the spot on the team.

#5 SAnitY will make their presence felt

SAnitY will not go down quietly

The eccentric and dangerous group may not be in the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic finals, but they will make their presence felt at Takeover Toronto.

TM161 certainly have the odds stacked against them as they have made it this far in the Tag Team Classic. Giving the team their first loss won’t go down quietly and TM161 has to keep that in mind as they head on to Toronto.

The Authors of Pain have been incredible since coming onto the NXT scene. With manager Paul Ellering by their side, the team has been unstoppable. It would be a huge shock if TM161 pulled off a win despite the odds stacked against them.
