5 "way too early" WrestleMania 35 match predictions

WrestleMania 35
WrestleMania 35 returns to MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey

WrestleMania is a year-round conversation. Talk and preparation of the next WrestleMania begins even before the current WrestleMania is in the books.

WrestleMania 35 will take place at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, on April 7, 2019.

MetLife Stadium is where the New York Giants and Jets play their home games in the NFL, and it hosted WrestleMania 29 which was headlined by John Cena vs The Rock for the WWE Championship.

This year's WrestleMania took place from the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana, which was highlighted by AJ Styles vs Shinsuke Nakamura and the WWE debut of Ronda Rousey who teamed with Kurt Angle to defeat Stephanie McMahon and Triple H.

Now that there has been a couple of weeks to digest the latest Superstar Shakeup, this article is going to take a look at five great matches that could happen at The Showcase of the Immortals in New Jersey next year.

Let's start with the WWE Championship match...

#5 - The Miz vs Samoa Joe for the WWE Championship

Two
A feud between The Miz and Samoa Joe needs to happen

The first match is a battle of two WWE Superstars who moved from Monday Night Raw to SmackDown Live in the Superstar Shakeup.

It's hard to argue that The Miz has been one of the best inside the ring and on the microphone in the WWE over the past two years (basically since Maryse returned to the company).

He's long overdue for a WWE Championship run, and he gets his WrestleMania moment here.

I am figuring that Samoa Joe is going to eventually take the WWE Championship from either AJ Styles or Shinsuke Nakamura later this year. Depending on who Joe defeats for the title would determine who's heel and who's babyface in this WrestleMania 35 match.

#4 - Shinsuke Nakamura vs Chris Jericho

C
Chris Jericho may need to wear a cup for this dream match against Shinsuke Nakamura...

Chris Jericho made a surprise return to New Japan Pro Wrestling to feud with Kenny Omega at Wrestle Kingdom 12 this past January. He'll take on Tetsuya Naito at Dominion in June.

I would continue the run of Chris Jericho vs New Japan at WrestleMania 35 with this dream match against Shinsuke Nakamura.

Nakamura has been tremendous in his heel role since turning on AJ Styles at WrestleMania, so Jericho would play the babyface here.

Even though they wrestled at a WWE Live event in Tokyo two years ago, this would be the first televised match in the WWE between these two legends in a match that could steal the show.

#3 - Finn Balor vs Drew McIntyre for the WWE Intercontinental Championship

We
We definitely need this epic battle between a Scottish and Irish WWE Superstar

Even though Finn Balor is overdue for another shot at the WWE Universal Championship that he only held for a day, the WWE Intercontinental Championship is as relevant as ever and just like The Miz and Seth Rollins before him, I think Balor would continue the prestige.

Drew McIntyre made his return to the WWE main roster in a huge way when he formed a team with Dolph Ziggler and attacked Titus Worldwide at the Superstar Shakeup. McIntyre has worked hard to reinvent himself into a main event player.

A match-up between McIntyre and Balor has never happened within any promotion. At WrestleMania for the WWE Intercontinental Championship makes complete sense.

#2 - Kurt Angle vs Daniel Bryan

A dream
A dream match we never thought we would be able to see, but now we know it will happen

Both Kurt Angle and Daniel Bryan have said publicly that they want this match to happen.

A battle of the former General Manager of SmackDown Live and the current General Manager of Monday Night Raw almost seems certain sometime within the next 365 days, and WrestleMania 35 would be the perfect spot for it.

Angle and Bryan have never faced each other in any promotion. The Royal Rumble would be a great way to set up this match, just like the great feud between Angle and Shawn Michaels in 2005.

That feud started when HBK eliminated Angle from the Rumble prompting a brutal attack from Kurt afterward.

#1 - Seth Rollins vs Dean Ambrose vs Roman Reigns vs Braun Strowman for the WWE Universal Championship

T
To win the WWE Universal Championship, Braun Strowman must go through The Shield

It's not a matter of if, but a matter of when Braun Strowman becomes a World Champion within the WWE.

After being relegated to winning the WWE Raw Tag Team Championships at WrestleMania 34 with a nine-year-old, Strowman is in the main event of WrestleMania 35 with a tough challenge to win the WWE Universal Championship.

In order for Braun to become a World Champion in the WWE, he must get through The Shield to do so.

I'd say that Seth Rollins is the Champion going into Mania due to the great work he's done in 2018 so far; while Dean Ambrose will have been back for about six months after a triceps tear, and Roman Reigns is always in the title hunt.
