Few in WWE have achieved the kind of success that The Undertaker has. Even after so many years in the business, he has a mystique that is unmatched and a presence that is revered. He is just as respected in the locker room as he is in the WWE Universe. He truly is a phenom, in more ways than one.

The Undertaker's last ride may happen at WrestleMania 34. He goes up against John Cena in a dream match that fans have wanted for many years. Indeed, it is surprising that two superstars of their calibre never had a match at WrestleMania.

Following the match, there's a huge possibility that he may ride off forever into the sunset. Few will be surprised if he does, to be quite honest.

In this article, we will list why we could see the last of The Undertaker at WrestleMania 34.

#5 The physical toll of wrestling

The Undertaker has given life and limb to professional wrestling, for many years

So many wrestling insiders have said in shoot interviews how The Undertaker has struggled with injuries for years. And yet, the man has performed at the highest level for many, many years. He would not let injuries deter him, but only motivate him to do better. Over the years, we've seen injuries take a heavy physical toll on the man!

In the link above, Vince Russo said how The Undertaker had back issues right from the time of the Attitude Era. He would have the match of the night, but he would be laid out on the floor in the back, following the same. One assumes that these injuries just have been aggravated with the passage of time.

Remember the photo that emerged of The Undertaker with crutches? Not surprising for a man who's given everything for our entertainment and our viewing pleasure. Because of this heavy physical toll, we wouldn't be surprised if he decided to hang up his boots, for good!

#4 To make way for younger WWE talent

There's a reason why The Undertaker was the WWE locker room leader for so many years, when he was an active competitor. It stems from the fact that he's always been a team player and thinks about what is best for WWE. He realizes that he will be a draw as long as he is alive. However, it may be time to make way for the new generation.

When he appeared on the Sam Roberts Wrestling Podcast, Big Cass spoke about how The Undertaker gives advice to young talent like him, in the locker room. The Undertaker realizes that he's had a great run, and it's time that younger talent carries his legacy. We deem it quite likely that he'll take a backseat very soon.

After all, there are so many talented individuals who do not have a singles match at WrestleMania. They will either be booked in multi-man affairs, or thrown into a Battle Royal.

If The Undertaker hung up his boots, a spot would open up for youngsters.

#3 To spend time with his family

The Undertaker is a family man, in every sense of the word

The Undertaker has been an integral part of sports entertainment for many years now. Even though he has worked a part time schedule for a while, competing in the ring requires one to stay in shape and put in countless hours in the gym. Maybe all The Undertaker wants to do right now is be a family man. Away from the glitz and all the glamour.

Right now, he's a loving husband and a doting father. After spending so much time in the spotlight, we suppose it is only fair that he would want to spend time with his highly beloved family.

#2 It doesn't get bigger than Cena vs. The Undertaker

John Cena vs. The Undertaker is a contest that fans have longed for, for many years now. Perhaps the only other Undertaker match they've wanted more is the one with Sting. However, Sting is in no shape to compete and John Cena is. This is as big as it gets.

Despite the thrill of watching AJ Styles and Shinsuke Nakamura tear it up and the sheer magnitude of a match like Brock Lesnar vs. Roman Reigns, John Cena vs. The Undertaker feels like the main event, doesn't it? Even though there's no title on the line. If The Undertaker has to retire after a match, it needs to be this one.

No match will ever live up to the hype of this one unless Sting made a comeback. Any Undertaker future match would pale in front of this one.

#1 To not damage his legacy

The worst thing a wrestler can do, is overstay his welcome

is overstay
his welcome

Remember Ric Flair's perfect last match, at WrestleMania against Shawn Michaels? Well, it was his last WWE match. He went on to TNA and wrestled for another spell with the company. He was not the Ric Flair of old, and was instead, old Ric Flair.

The Undertaker runs the risk of falling into that trap. He is 53 now and has been battling injuries for a while now. Even during his match with Roman Reigns, we saw a shell of the Dead Man we so adore!

So, The Undertaker may decide to call it a day after his match with John Cena. We all know that it's been a long time coming.

Whatever his decision may be, no one can argue that he's perhaps the greatest to have ever put on a pair of boots.
