Brock Lesnar as Universal Champion

Raw after WrestleMania 28: Brock Lesnar returned to WWE after 8 years. When he returned and hit the F5 on John Cena, he got the loudest ovation on the Raw after WrestleMania in history. Since then, things have changed.

Brock has been on a part-time schedule since he returned to WWE in 2012. He no longer carries the same allure since his return. It is because of his Universal Title reign. Brock Lesnar has been WWE Universal Champion since he beat Goldberg at WrestleMania 33. Due to this title reign, his popularity has decreased.

The fans never wanted a part-time wrestler to break CM Punk's 434-day record. However, Brock Lesnar broke his record and became the longest reigning modern day champion. He is still the WWE Universal Champion and has held the title for more than 500 days.

DId WWE really think that the fans would love Brock Lesnar breaking CM Punk's record? A wrestler who defended his title 10 times in 500 days broke the record of a wrestler who defended his title 141 times.

Stats say everything!!

WWE can do everything, but can't remove CM Punk from history books and will always be remembered for his historic title reign and would not ever be replaced by a part-time champion who came to WWE for money. CM Punk will always be a true champion in the eyes of the fans.
