5 WWE WrestleMania matches that lasted less than 30 seconds

These guys never produce short wrestling matches

How do you expect a WrestleMania match to be? Lots of action, excitement, shock, drama and what not! There is this particular aspect called duration that plays a major role in the success of a match.

The crowd generally loves long gruelling matches and wants the superstars to finish the match in desperation. But there are certain instances where WrestleMania matches were short. A 2-3 minute match doesn’t bring you as much fun and excitement as a 25-30 minute match brings. But what about a WrestleMania match that is less than 30 seconds?

I would go a mile further and ask you what if you have a Championship match at WrestleMania for less than 30 seconds? That would be awful!

Here is a collection of WrestleMania matches that were fought for a duration of fewer than 30 seconds and four out of the five are Championship matches!

1) King Kong Bundy vs Special Delivery Jones

At WrestleMania 1, King Kong Bundy, accompanied by Jimmy Hart faced Special Delivery Jones in the second match of the night. Bundy crushed Jones against the turnbuckle and viciously landed on him stomach-first. Jones was totally drained of all the energy after this and Bundy quickly pinned Jones.

The WWF's official time for the match is a record time of nine seconds but actually, the reported time for this match was 24 seconds. The first Mania, the second match and the duration is less than 30 seconds, Howzzat!

2) Kane vs Chavo Guerrero

The match between Kane and Chavo Guerrero at WrestleMania 24 gained prominence in terms of the match duration but in a defamatory way for Chavo. This was the shortest match in Mania history till date. This match was fought for the ECW title which was defended by Chavo Guerrero against the big red machine, Kane.

The match lasted for only 11 seconds after Kane won the match by delivering a chokeslam to Chavo and won the title just like that. The duration was so short that the entrance of both the superstars individually lasted at least three times more than the match.

3) Rey Mysterio vs JBL

JBL was a frustrated man after this loss

This match for the Intercontinental Championship at WrestleMania 25 was very special and unique. JBL defended his title against Rey Mysterio and before the match got underway, JBL attacked Rey and punched him down. After the referee confirmed that Rey was ready, he asked the timekeeper to ring the bell and the match officially started.

Rey quickly put JBL on the ropes and delivered a 619 and pinned the champion for the win. JBL lost the title to Rey Mysterio in 21 seconds! JBL looked very frustrated and grabbed the microphone and uttered the words, “I Quit!”

4) Hulk Hogan vs Yokozuna

In a backstage segment at WrestleMania 9, Hulk Hogan spoke about his desire to face the Champion of the main event between Bret Hart and Yokozuna. After the match was over, Hogan came to check Hart's condition and it was then Fuji, Yokozuna’s manager who made his presence felt by challenging the Hulkster to a match with Yokozuna on the spot.

Hogan accepted the challenge and the bell rang to kick off the match. Fuji tried to sprinkle salt in Hogan's eyes but Hogan escaped the attack and the whole thing backfired as Yokozuna, in turn, became the victim. Hogan capitalised by hitting a leg drop and won the title in under 22 seconds.

5) Daniel Bryan vs Sheamus

Daniel Bryan defended his World Heavyweight Championship against Sheamus at WrestleMania 28. Daniel was accompanied by then his girlfriend, AJ Lee and her presence that made this match very special.

The referee asked the timekeeper to ring the bell and just when the match got underway, Daniel wanted a good luck kiss from AJ and kissed her near the ropes. Daniel turned back to start the fight after the kiss but the Celtic Warrior was ready by then.

He quickly showed his Irish temper by delivering a vicious Brogue Kick to the champion. Bryan was knocked cold and he had no idea where he was. Sheamus quickly pinned Daniel for the win and picked up the title in 18 seconds.
