#4 Hulk Hogan betrays WCW

"Hulk Hogan has betrayed WCW."

Thus spake Bobby 'The Brain' Heenan at WCW's Bash at the Beach, 1996.

For months, WCW had been terrorized by Scott Hall and Kevin Nash, the outsiders. They would interrupt scheduled matches to beat up the participants, attack wrestlers backstage, and do whatever they could to cause as much chaos as possible.

And so it came to pass that at Bash at the Beach, they took on the team of Sting, Randy Savage, and Lex Luger. For weeks, the Outsiders had been promising the reveal of a third man. Everyone speculated as to who it was.

The answer was truly shocking.

Hulk Hogan.

The same man who was a hero to millions, the same man who implored children to take their vitamins and say their prayers, the same Real American, was now standing in the ring with the Outsiders, having turned his back on WCW, and the fans.

It was pure bedlam. The crowd was so upset that they threw garbage into the ring. Some even tried to rush it. They were angry, and they made their displeasure known. And who could blame them?

The unfathomable had happened; Hulk Hogan had gone over to the dark side.
